Poachers caught from fillmore

Just got back from fillmore and I picked up a paper while there and front page says Elk poachers sentenced
There was 3 of them jack Bennett 22 of holden,Tyler Simmons 22 of fillmore,Shane Bundy 21 of fillmore They were fined of a total of $8000.00 and 10 days in jail and probation for 18 months WOW!!!! you get more for shoplifting now days WHAT IS GOING ON????
The bull was killed about a mile from where the big archery bull was taken
What can we do as hunters to help! our laws need to change!!!!

I sure do not understand that kind of thinking? I'm glad they were caught, but I think that a $ 10,000 fine per hunter, and 30 days in jail along with lose of hunting & fishing rights for 10 years would be more inline with what they deserve. :nono:

At the very least they were caught and convicted. I do agree on the penelties as way too light.

I also wish there were a nation wide loss of hunting rights associated with these crimes. I know a lot of states are in pact to loss of rights but we need every state to buy in.

It is jsut a kick in the gut to all of us that work our butts off to do the right thing and some guys cheat and get a slap on the wrist. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

It sure makes me feel good when some of them get caught. You know a lot of it goes on and it just feels like at least something is happening when I read that.

I agree wyo102. It's hard to catch them all but it's sure nice to see at least some of them getting nailed.
