Question about Garmin Rino

I just picked up 2 brand new Garmin Rino 530’s. As I have been playing with them I noticed that at times both units will scramble on the screen a little when I push the talk button on the radio.

Do any of you know if this is normal? I bought it from ebay & talked to the guys at Garmin & they didn’t seem to ever have a concern like this before.

I just wanted to double check before I send them back to exchange them, especially since I have a hunt this weekend that I wanted to use them on.

Thanks!

I've never seen the 530's before. I haven't had many problems with the 120's. there is one hill we hunt where the radio signal will not transmit but walk 2 or 3 steps and it will transmit, I'm guessing due to something in the rocks?

How close together are the units when this happens?

We could be a 1/2 mile apart & it would still happen so I exchanged them & got new ones that have not duplicated the problem. I am stoked to use them this weekend on our Javelina hunt!

Any thoughts on the Topo software? Is it worth buying?

I've never used it, but I always have a Topo map with me.

Well, I got the new Rinos out hunting this weekend & they are worth every penny 10sign: ! My buddy & I were a mile apart from each other, but the radio was as clear as could be! I ended up spotting a herd of Javelina & while I watched them my buddy was able to locate & walk right up to me. We then made a stalk & my buddy was able to connect & get his first big game kill & he did it with a bow. The Rinos made it so much easier to cover a lot of ground!

Congrats to you and your buddy. Those Rhino's really are the best thing since sliced bread. I won't go hunting without 'em.
