Radical Elk Hunting

So my most recent purchase was Mike Lapinski's book called High Pressure Elk Hunting and its been a pretty good read so far! He refers a lot to another book he wrote called Radical Elk Hunting Strategies, anyone read it?? I had a question regarding some things he says about calling elk. He talks a lot about adding excitement to your calling. In the book he and other hunters say that many times they have gone into an area where the bulls weren't responding and just started letting out all kinds of bugles and cow calls sometimes three or four big bugles per minute! This seemed kind of crazy to me but it seems to work for him...

Have any of you had experience with this type of "radical calling"?

How do you know when your calling should be more conservative and when you could get away with this more aggressive style calling?

I've never tried an aggressive call like that. Ihave heard elk call like crazy. Last year I followed a heard of 50+ elk with 4 bulls. They left the fields and headed up the mountain to bed. They would talk all the way up. When the hit some really think cedars and mogahany it was non stop chirps bulges and everything in between for almost 5 minutes. It seemed like they wanted to know where each elk was before bedding down. After they were quite for 15 minutes igave out a few cow calls and theystarted up calling each other again.

So if you know there is elk near by but the wont respond. Go ahead and get aggressive with the calling. I think it would work just fine. I also beloved it changes from heard to heard and location

I have used the radical technique several times, I have learned to use it as a last resort when I am about to give up. I have also found that it does work extremely well in getting elk of all sizes to come in. A lot of times they will come in silent though so it works at its best when you are hunting with a partner and you are calling.

One side note is you will find that it calls in and irritates every other hunter on the mountain.

Yeah as I thought the whole thing through my head I Imagined what I would have thought if I heard that while out hunting haha. Whatever works I guess! I can see how it would make sense as a last resort kind of thing. Thanks for the comments guys!

Anyone else out there have experience with this? Or any other calling techniques for that matter?
