I use them, never had any problems with the ribs but I wouldn't shoot them into the shoulder bone as they are aluminum however they did just come out with a titanium version.

I talked to a guide friend last night and he witnessed his first client shoot a big muley with one. He said the client was in a treestand and he was watching from another treestand. The deer was shot at 12 yards over water. The arrow hit high on the shoulder, barely penetrated and flopped out on the first jump. They got little blood and no blood trail after a few yards. He said the deer seems okay now and hopes to put someone else on him later.
I'll stick with Montecs.

Sounds like poor shot placement/low fps...

Hope you're right. Maybe 72 pounds is too little? My friend expected to see the arrow exit low and the deer die, with a wound that looked like an axe went through him. We got on the subject because he was putting new blades on his ancient Muzzy's and I was kidding him about trying the new Rage 3 blade heads. That's when he started laughing and related the story. He says next year the guy will show up shooting Muzzys. Too many dollars and tears to take a chance like that again.

You could shoot a blunt tip through a deer at that range with proper placement,I use the Tekens,100% for me so far.

I have had problems with them... they don't penetrate if they contact bone and if they glance off a rib, it will fold the blade all the way back rendering it useless.

This is my personal experience... others will disagree. Nothing beats a fixed blade Muzzy.

Dont know if I would trust them. Rage had a competition where where they only invited the top shooters in the industry and had them shoot head to head.

It came down to a shoot off for first and second place and Randy Ulmers arrow took a right turn and ended up in the carpet. Ive heard the winner LOL super glued his head closed so it would not open in flight. LOL

proly better try the grim reaper mechanical if you want a mechanical or you should proly try the wacem fixed head if you want a fixed head. They both will fly with your field points out to at least 60 yards+

The first time I shot one was at a large pronghorn two years ago (2 blade). It was unbelievable the amount of blood and devestation it did. I shot another pronghorn the next year, but wasn't as impressed (although the placement was perfect so the buck didn't go that far). I shot a Coues deer last year, and shattered his shoulders leaving more bloodshot area than a large rifle would have done!

I just returned from Africa yesterday, where my hunting partner shot two Kudu, a Waterbuck, Zebra, 3 Warthogs and an Impala. The Rage 2 Blade performed VERY well on even the largest of those. I was nervous about using them on the larger animals, but after seeing his success I blew one right through a Blue Wildebeest, a Warthog and an Impala. I shot a Kudu, and while it didn't pass through, it did penetrate completely out the other side. It didn't seem to matter whether they hit ribs on these 500-700 pound animals or not, they still performed surprisingly well. I have an elk hunt in a few weeks, and haven't decided if I will use them or stick with fixed blades, however.

I heard that the new Titanium head ($89 for a 3 pack) is like "throwing your wallet through an animal"!!

Stickflicker you mean you are going to base your opinion on animals that you shot and not on what happened to a friend of a friends brother in law. It's amazing to me how someone can say that they saw a blade open up in flight. I like you are only looking at the animals that I have shot with my 3 blade Rage out of the 7 animals that I have killed I am still impressed with the preformance of this head.

I can only state my experience w/ the rage 100grain 2 bladed broadhead on whitetail, it's by far the most devistating wound channel I've ever seen. It's true they fly just like my field points.Last year I shot a 144inch buck that weighed in at 215 lbs. Not quite as big as the midwest but plenty respectable for Arkansas, quartering away 24 yrds. Complete pass through buck ran less than 60 yrds.Lots of blood, no problem tracking and looked like I through a hatchet through him.If I was to use them on elk or bigger game I might want to try the new ke version of the 2 bladed broadhead. Most everone has talked me into fixed blades for my elk hunt in sept. Going to go w/ their advise. The thing I like about the Rage to is the blades are thicker than most of the fixed blades. Hope this helps!!!

I have taken I believe eight deer with the two blade now and have NEVER had a broadhead work as well! I'm not switching, I don't care who has a bad story.

I haven't used the Rage but had some bad experiences with expandables in the past and use Muzzys exclusively now. I have wanted to try them though and the info you guys are giving eases my mind a little about taking that chance.

While I've never had one open in flight, that I'm aware of, they can be a pain in that they do open while in the quiver while stalking or otherwise walking around. You do have to make sure they are closed and clipped in properly before every shot. I'm not a fan of that. I've began putting a tiny rubber band around the center of the head in the little "v" notch. I use the tiny rubber bands that they use for braces. They really keep them closed well. I haven't shot an animal yet since i've began doing that, but I think they would cut away with no interference with the head working properly at all.
