Ran my first 5k today

Ran my very first 5k (offical race) today. It wasn't to bad, it actually was kind of fun. I am paying for it now, my calves are killing me. Might just have to do it again some time. Gives me a high respect for those that can do the 1/2 or full marathons. Any who, here is a picture of ( in order from left to right) Me, my wife, my friends wife and my friend (in the blue).

Congrats DeadI :thumb

I've never ran an offical 5K but I did run 5k last night at 10:30pm. It was nice without the heat. I need some work before I could ever be a contender in a 5K race. For now, just using it to try to get into better hunting shape.

Great job Jared, way to get the first one under your belt.

I ran one actually a little over 5K a coupe of weeks ago for a Reunion, took 6th place with a time of 27:31. Dang little brother beat me. :)

Way to go guys.......dang Brett, I wish my runs were as scenic as yours. Nice run around the lake......

Jared, keep after it and train regularly and you'll enjoy them.....if someone would have told me I would be running full marathons a few years back, I would have told them they were full of themselves......now look at me. Ran a half marathon two weeks ago and I must say.....it wasn't bad at all. It's nothing like a full, in terms of fatigue and cramps, but it will get your blood pumping. Thanks to whoever created the I-pod......without it and don't know if I could keep going......I'd "think" about running too much instead of listening to what's on the I-pod. Tapering off a bit on the training now, as I leave for a backpacking hunting trip next week......jst a few short runs to stay loose.

Congrats DeadI!! :thumb That was my goal this year and I didn't get it done. :>/ I've been doing most of my running indoors because of the excessive heat and humidity we have been having this Summer. Now I sound like a true Cubs fan "next year" I will get it done and hopefully expand on it like some of these others have done. I hope everyone has met their conditioning goals and have enjoyable hunts this year!!!
