Range Finder Input Needed

All,

I am looking for a good all around Range Finder. I hunt with Rifle, Archery and Muzzleloader tackle. Shots anywhere from 10 yards up to 1000+ ( I wish) yards.

With your reply, please give me details on why this range finder is the best.

Here is mine and the thread about it, not sure why I like it. Not to picky on Range Finders I suppose. Not going to get the 1000 yards for sure, but why the heck do you want that far anyway? :)

It's camo, not to expensive, reads accurate, small, compact, lightweight, etc.

I like it.

Cowslayer aka Big Bull slayer, my wife bought me a Nikon Monarch Laser 800 the other year for Christmas and I like it a lot. It seems to work out to 600-700 yards but they (Nikon) say it'll reach from 11 yards out to 800 yards. Mine is black in color, which I also like because I'm terrible at misplacing things on the mountain. I think it cost around 300 or so.

i have the older model leica 800 its awsome, but i haved used the newer leica model and it is smaller and better i think it's 1200 yds. i used to think that all you needed was a 400 yrd range finder but it is probably the most usefull to use so you can range an elk at say 1100 yrds then you can look at a tree and range it at say 700 yrds then that tells you were you need to get before you shoot.plus all of them say a max range but there is times you cant get a reading on something thats out that far, so if you get a 1200 yrd range finder you will never have a problem hitting a range at say 800yrds, because it's capable of a lot more.--- i would stay away from the leapold range finders that auto adjust for the uphill/downhill shot, i've heard nothing great about them and there is just to mush inside the window its confusing
Good luck and let us know what you decide!!

What have you guys heard about the Bushnell Elite 1500 ARC http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20712-cat20756&id=0029689712560a&navCount=2&podId=0029689&parentId=cat20756&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=QW&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20756&hasJS=true

I am interested in this for the Angle Compensator for the archery and the long distance for rifle. I read the reviews, I just wanted to talk to the experts here on the forum to hear what your views were.

RX II.The internal ballistics computer is awsome,it tells you the angle of the shot, then you can set it to display hold over for your load OR actual distance to target OR what distance you should be shooting for with the shot angle figured in for the FPS and weight of your load.I have it on Hold Over,in the lower right hand corner it tells you range in yards or feet, above the target it tells you hold over or under depending on range and angle.

Torch, I have the next best thing... The .300 RUM!!!

Nonya, I looked at the leupold, I liked the feature, I liked the look and feel, but I didn't love the clarity compared to the bushnell elite. It felt like the bushnell had a better field of view and was much clearer and crisper.

I think I will be byeing the 1500 Elite ARC Bushnell in Advantage camo. Yeah baby, here comes 1 shot Snell...

We talkin range finders or spotting scopes,no offense but the clarity of my leo is top notch and its probably the last thing I considered when i looked for a new range finder,i want an accurate range,TBR and a bow mode, only one that has all 3 is the leo.I waited a whole season to be able to afford this one instead of the $200 WM bushnell. :222

When I am bowhunting I like the Bushnell Yardage Pro, it is small and light and easy to use.

When I am guiding I prefer my Leica Geovid's.

I have the Bushnell Yardage Pro and my dad has the fancy Leupold true ballistic range etc. I've shot with his and mine with virtually now difference in range (at practical shooting distances). There were a few minor variations at long range up/downhill (+/- 1-3 yards). I like them both just depends on how much you want to spend. I would love to get a pair of Liecia Geovid range finding binos but I just can't seem to part THAT much cash.

okay, I bought the Bushnell 1500 ARC Elite. I have had it in the back yard and I was able to range a hillside at 1100+ yards. The clarity, and field of view is awesome. I can't wait to put it to use!!!

Fatrooster,

So far so good. I went and shot the bow 2 days ago and it is working. I just need to try some more angled shots for it to show how accurate it really is.

Cow, please let me know about its accuracy and if its worth me selling my old Bushnell Elite to get the Arc. Thanks, fatrooster.
