I believe that critter is a sitatunga and, yes it is african.

My SERIOUS photography (mule deer) is all done in southeast or central Oregon, the rest of the time I'm practicing on wildlife wherever and whenever I can find them. I hit golf courses, refuges, and game parks, anywhere the animals are accustomed to humans, it makes approaching and photographing them easier.
