Hi. Im 16 years old and my grandpa and I going to hunt muleys and antelope in WY this fall. We applied for deer region W 1st choice and C for 2nd choice. Since odds are much better for region C, that is where we are planning on hunting for now. We were thinking about public land (thunder basin natl. grassland.) north of gillette or BLM/State land east of buffalo. We also are looking at the bighorn mountains and land west of kaycee. We want to hunt public land. Any ideas for deer and antelope in region C? Also, does anyone know the laws about hunting near oil wells on BLM land since I heard they are drilling near the powder river? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post anything too specific on here. Thanks, I appreciate it.

I can't give you a specific spot to hunt, but antelope are EVERYWHERE on the TBNG. As far as oil wells are concerned, if you practice standard safety procedures, you won't have any problems with them. They usually have a small fenced area around them and you can drive up to the fence, just don't go into the fenced area. There's really no reason to get that close anyway. During hunting season, the antelope generally avoid the rigs. They're too wary of people at that time of the year. Generally!
