Remington Sendero?

I have two senderos now. My first is in a 25-06 and my newest one is in a 7MM Ultra Mag. that I just used on my hunt this year.

Yes they are heavy guns to pack around but both of the guns that i have shoot very well. Sometimes you have to choose if the extra weight is worth it or not.

I just went and weighed my 7MM and it came in at 10.6 pounds. (???)

It's no wonder my shoulder was getting tired. lol

10.6 is less than I was thinking they would be. Heck, my Ruger hawkeye 270 weighs over 11lbs with the scope, bipod, and sling. But it came from the factory with the OD green Hogue stock. Maybe ill save up some more money and have a really accurate lightweight built

My custom M70 with sling and bipod weighs 6.2 lbs. Which is why with the .338 RCM it kicks like a mule.

I hunt with one chambered in 264. I love the h@ll out of it. I shoot 120 TSX. I have yet to kill an elk with it, hopefully next year. I have not weighed it. I am guessing over 8 pds with scope and bipod. I had Wasatch Precision recrown and bed the action before too much load development. I would recomend the same if you by a new one, cheap insurance.

I absolutely love mine ! :thumb It is in the 7MM RUM and I shoot 139 gr Hornady Interbonds hanloaded. With everything on it and loaded it wieghs 13 pounds. Thank god for my Eberlestock backpack.

I have been fortunate enough to take several great critters with it since 2005.

I have a Sendero in 7mmSTW and a Hart barrel with a Leupy 8.5-25x. It weighs in at 12.5 pounds without any rounds in it, sling, etc. Very accurate rifles for sure, but not one you want to be packing on high country hunts. I will carry it on a day hunt where I will hike to a point and set up to glass. For longer hunts, I opt for a lighter rifle.

I've got em........they are premium. Best factory rifle in their price range PERIOD. Other manufacturers have tried to duplicate this rifle and none have come close in my opinion. I have had several and currently have two. MOA at 1000yds out of the box speaks for itself. I like the 300 RUM and I love the 338 RUM in this rifle. The 25-06 is fun to, but not quite as functional. Here's mine in 338 RUM. The shot was not close and the placement was not accidental. These rifles are very accurate.---------SS

It is by far the best out of the box rifle one could buy. I have one in a .300 win mag. I am shooting 168 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips and get 1/2 MOA out to 300 yards. And 1 MOA from 400-600 yards.
my scope is a Nightforce 3.5x15 plus my harris bipod it weights about 12 pounds.
BTW, i use this rifle for all my hunting be coyote to elk. I pack it in the extream backcountry and the weight is NOT an issue. Im not a big person.. 5'7 and 160 lbs and love the reliability of the rifle. Get it zeroed in and it will do its job!
i would rather carry this rifle in the Frank Church hiking than take a less proven lighter rifle and pull n pray.
I blasted a coyote at 515 yards three weeks ago, one shot kill. Not an easy task. My friends couldn't believe it when they saw the yote drop in his tracks.
i also shot a muley buck at 505 yards two years ago and dropped him immediately!
its worth the price tag.. but i will say this. Don't sell the rifle short by putting a cheap scope on it. Do it and yourself the respect and get a good scope, sight it in, and enjoy!

I think the Accumark Weatherbys are better rifle out of the box compared to the Senderos. Don't get me wrong, I love my Senderos, but I feel my Accumark is better for all around hunting whether it be packing in the high country or sitting on a point and still hunting

I think that the accumark is comparable to the Sendero and costs alot more. I have shot a couple that performed very well. My problem with the Weatherby is that it is not offered in many cartridges that I would want to shoot/reload for. While the accumark is great, I think that the Sendero is just as good, costs alot less, and is offered in far more mainstream cartridges. For those who like to customize, there is no better platform than an accurized 700 action. I do think that the accumark gets the nod in appearance though. That is one darned good looking rifle. ----SS

I know this is an old post, but I load for two different guys with senderos. Both in 300 RUM and I will say one thing, they are tack drivers! Not too heavy, I would trade the weight for confidence in my rifle any day!

I own a Sendero in 300RUM and hands down it will out perform any weatherby and save ya a grand. Also the remington action is by far better than the weatherby, so sorry if ya wasted the money for the name.

This 5 things useful for a good hunting.
1. Select cartridge: .308 Winchester. Why: this cartridge is a widely available cartridge that has acceptable performance characteristics.

2. Select bullet weight: 150 grains. Why: anecdotal data indicates that 150 grains is an excellent bullet weight for hunting North American deer with a .308 caliber rifle.

3. Select bullet type: Soft point Expanding. Why: expanding bullets impart the most damage on the soft tissue in the chest cavity kill zone.

4. Select rifle: Savage Arms Model 111FCNS. Why: This model is the best reasonably priced rifle that I could find to satisfy my requirements; and it has the excellent, user adjustable, Savage AccuTrigger.

5. Select a scope and mounting system: In my case I ultimately chose one of Bushnell's top of the line Elite 4200 models and a hardened steel mounting base and rings. Why: This scope and mounting system satisfied my requirements and are reputed to be very rugged.
