Ridgetops hunting journal

Most of you know that I drew a sheep tag this year. It's right in my back yard. Less than ten miles from my house. I can see the ridges they live on from my back porch. In a way this is kind of a curse. I can't even go out back and not think about the sheep, as I look up at the mountain. So with all the time I'll be spending looking over the sheep this year and scouting for deer in the same area. I also have an archery, muzzleloader and rifle deer tag for this same unit (Dedicated hunter). I'm thinking of keeping a weekly journal of the trips and people I talk to on the mountain. Would this interest any of you if I shared this info. on this forum? Probably in the sheep section. I know I would like to hear more about the day to day scouting on some of these great tags you guys have draw out on.

I too would love to hear about your exploits in all forms. I kept journals for my hunts taking place over thirty years, only to lose them all in a home fire. Would be great to hear about yours! :thumb

I'm going to have to say that I would not like to hear about all of your wonderful adventures as it will only make me regret not moving back to the mountain states after I retired out of the Navy. I only get up to CO on average once a year for hunting and paying these non-resident prices for tags is getting rediculous! Heck, for what I pay for a deer and elk tag now would have covered me for ten years when I was a resident!

So, no, I don't want to hear how you can walk off your back porch and scout for a great tag while I suffer through 95 degree weather with 90% humidity!

Oh, and I only hope you have the best of luck with your tags and the scouting.

Please keep in mind this post is made with the most endearing type of sarcasism and all of of would love for you to keep us posted! :))

I'll try to get started next week with a new post.. It will be pretty slow for a while. I'm trying to get as many honey do items completed in the next month as possible and stay away from the ewes while they lamb in the next few weeks. By mid June it will be game on. So far, I have been talking to a lot of people by phone/e-mail about the sheep.
