Scouting Video-1st attempt

Between myself and a friend, this is our first attempt at putting together scouting video. When I uploaded it to youtube it became a more 'grainy' than it already was. You still get a pretty good look at a couple of the bucks. Any feed back would be appreciated.

What did I think? LOVED IT! :thumb Yea it's a bit grainy and tough to see but you have some great footage and some BIG NICE bucks in there.

I enjoyed it? How far away are you? What type of camera you using?

THANKS!

MM, thanks for the positive feedback. We are just using a handheld JVC camera. Most of the footage is taken from about 150-200 yards away. We are really excited about a couple of the bucks. Hopefully within the next week or so we will have some good trail cam pics as well.

I also enjoyed it. I wished I hadn't passed on the invite to be there in person. #-o

I have been watching that second buck as well. He has a bad limp and a cheater off his back right side. Unless I am badly mistaken you videoed that up big cottonwood canyon. He is a pretty nice buck. Does that canyon get hammered on the regular bowhunt. I have hunted it on the extended but never during the regular season. I heard the opener up there is a joke. Cool video. Let me know if I am right. If so this is the buck my friends and I call lumpy. He is running with five other pretty good bucks. Good luck on the hunt

Sorry, but the video was not taken in big cottonwood. You are right though, he does have a cheater off his G3 on his right side. So did another one of the bucks that was in the video. The one that I highligted in the green circle actually has 3.

Pretty much all the Big/Little Cottonwood and Millcreek canyons get hammered during the opener and during the season for that matter. So I started looking into new areas. Things may have changed tho, I haven't been up there for a couple of years to see. If you can find an escape route you might have some luck. In the past I have hunted a lot of the canyons in big cottonwood, so if you are looking for some information on a specific one I might be able to help you out. Feel free to send me a PM.

By the way Ridgetop, you know you always have a standing invite. I will be driving down that way in a couple of weeks to check the trail cam so I will have to let you know. Like your sig line says, 'There is always next year/time.'

Check your aol email, I sent you some pics from our other scouting trip.

Thanks for the reply. Does his buck split on his G2 on the cheater side or is he just a 3 by 4 frame with the cheater? It looked like a 3 by 4 but then maybe it splits. It is just to grainy to tell. As far as big cottonwood I have hiked about every nook and craney of it at some point or another I have just never been up there during the regular hunt. I have two bucks I have been keeping my eye on that are not in the extended unit which are better scoring than old lumpy so maybe I better focus on those anyways. Good luck to you.

Cool video...thanks for sharing. If it's on the Wasatch, just wear a tye died T-shirt with a walking stick and you will be able to walk right up on it...LOL. There are some dandy bucks up there, but it's way too close to the city for me. :)
