The ethics course is now on the DWR web site. It didnt take too long, and was quite easy if you read the info for each question. We all have to take it might as well get it over with, and hopefully learn somthing while we are at it.

I responded with False because course or no course antlers still attached to a skull plate must stay where they are unless you call the fish and game and after an investigation they determine that it was a natural death and then give you permission to pick up the skull/antlers.
I got the question wrong. When I went back through and answered true I passed the course. I think the answer to the question is incorrect. Finding skulls with antlers is not shed hunting. What do you all think?
Sorry for the mistake....spread the word with those who think the law has changed!!
Then I felt like I was buying a firearm with all the information needed. Kind of strange, because the ethics course for the extended archery dose not ask these type of questions? But we got-r-done :thumb
Good luck shed hunting,
Randy
After teaching countless hunter education courses to our young hunters and even a few classes to seasoned adults, I learned that visuals make longer lasting impressions than words....In this case I believe the producers assigned to this task were inexperienced and their obvious mistakes will help them better prepare an online course in the future.....It may be that designers of this course were fresh out of college and their idea of test questions was to present them in a manner that would almost surely guarantee some incorrect answers....This type of test will eventually come back and bite the teacher....For instance: Antler gathering is not controlled between April 16th and Jan 31 of the following year....Their answer true...Does this mean you can gather skull plated antlers during that time?.....
My suggetions would for them would be to use less space for text, print different and meaning photos on each page, such as winter kills, winter sick animals, OHV damage, and related material.....Print more fact and most of all stress the importance and reasoning behind the shed hunting course....Ask straight questions that can be answered with matter of fact....They should remember this is not test of grammar, but an informative presentation that hopefully will give us insight into a sensitive situation and in the end make us better stewards of the land.
All IMHO,
Randy
I totally agree they should have put pictures 10sign: (i'll get them on there for next year)
Thanks for all your support!! =D>
I hope you didn't take an offense to what I wrote...I re-read it and thought that parts of it could have been taken as a little harsh...I am sorry if I came across that way and I had no intentions of offending anyone if I did...
I guess I remember from earlier posts that you were part of the committee....I commend you for being involved....I wish more hunters would input their ideas back to their respective Fish, Game, Wildlife departments...
Thanks,
Randy
The question is:
Which condition(s) have no affect on deer survival during winter months?
Hunter disturbance
None of these
Cold temperatures
Snow depth
Vehicle accidents
In my mind it should be all of these, but the answer is Vehicle Accidents. I dont know about you but every time I have hit a deer with a vehicle it has had an affect on that deers survival. Anyone who has driven between Strawberry reservoir and Vernal, or any other winter range for that matter, during the winter months knows how much of an impact vehicles have on deer. Maybe they are just talking about vehicle vs vehicle accidents........... Maybe the DWR is thinking they are being tricky.........
Anyways i went back and finished it. Hopefully I can get out and find some sheds this year.
But after redoing it, i got my cert =D>
