Sheds around Mesa

Hello all, first post. My family and I are going to stay at Powderhorn resort the first week of August by Mesa about an hour from Grand Junction I think, does anyone have any advice for looking for sheds in that area? My little 10 yr old nephew is meeting us from Portland and I want to take him hiking for antlers. I'm from Nebraska, they are from Portland and we are meeting in the middle. I've hunted unit 61 years ago and could take him down there but would like to try closer to where we are staying..thanks!
