Sighted in the .243

Sighted in the .243 today and was pretty surprised at the average groups. The gun is an un-modified Rem 788 in .243 with an 18" barrel and simmons 3x9x40mm scope. This gun is completely stock, not even bedded (yet). The ammo used was HSM 100 grain pointed soft points. This was at 100 meters (109.3 yards).

They will get better! My plans are to free float the barrel, bed the action and take the trigger down to 2 1/2 pounds.

I would like them to close up enough to have the edges touching. make a nice little clover shape.

Normally i used yards, but this range was set up in meters. Once i get a few extra dollars i will be joining a gun club who's range is set in yards.

I am looking at 2 options at the moment.

1. Purchase a Timney for $90 and have an adjustable trigger from 2 to 6 lbs

2. Pay a smith i know $55 to put it at 2 lbs and have it not adjustable.
