sitka gear

Is Sitka gear all that its cut out to be? It is very expensive and I have heard good things about it. Would like to get some this season. Tried to buy some from cabelas a couple of weeks ago and it was 50% off and the stuff was gone in two days. all that was left was size medium and small. What guy wears that size> lol.

IMO, i have done to many big hunts without haveing to pay that kinda money for clothing. i've hunted alaska, montana, wyoming, colorado, new mexico, and old mexico. never once did i miss a hunt because my cloths weren't good enough. never once have i had to hold back on a hunt because my cloths couldn't do their job.

acually, i hunted with a buddy in wyoming who had just bought the whole 90% sitka set. in the end my cabelas clothing worked alot better. he didn't realize that the 90% was basically not waterproof at all.

i think i'd rather put that $800+ towards another hunt and just use my old "not-cool" cloths

I have the same feelings as Killer on this one. Get some other clothes and with the money you save go on another hunt.

I'm probably in the minority here but my favorite clothing material for hunting is old fashioned wool. It's quiet, warm, breathes, keeps ya warm even if it's drenched. I've got it from really thin, almost like slacks to thick as heck. Hard to beat it IMO.

X2 Plus it is fairly cheap in comparison.

Thats just my personal preference.

Awesome, was beginning to think I was old fashioned, not that it matters. It also lasts forever, which is pretty cool.

I have some sitka clothing and although I like it I will not get any more when it wears out. There are too many other options that are just as good or better for cheaper prices. fatrooster.

I started another company up last fall so I really didnt get to spend alot of time on the hill this year with my Trailcams and regular camera. Also my 18 year old drew San Juan Archery Elk so we really concentrated on him. He ended up taking a smaller 5x6 but had a few great oppurtunities at a couple low 300 and one MONSTER, after watching the video figured a solid 380. What a FUN FUN hunt :thumb
Things are going good now and am hoping to spend a little more time on the hill this year.

Take a look at true timber camo! They stuff is like sitka, but 1/3 the price. One of the best camo patterns i have ever seen for western style hunting!
