Sonoran Mulies

We spent the last 7 days hunting mulies here in Arizona and saw lots of deer. It's been dry so they seem to be where there is water. We've seen lots but haven't been able to get close enough yet. We watched 2 big 4x4's fight each other to a standstill one morning. We nearly got to them but they were a ways away and they broke off and left. The bigger one is there now. Guess he won the rights to the territory. The does aren't ready to breed yet. The bucks are just cruising looking. I saw 28 deer last night in the mesquites. Three small bucks with the bunch. One tried to sniff a doe and got smacked in the head for his efforts. Hopefully this next week the rut will start and the big bucks will be stupid. We actually left early because some bees had been getting water where we wash up in camp and decided to bring their queen and setup shop. It was pretty exciting breaking camp. We didn't get stung though. I actually buried the main swarm with sand last night then this morning before it warmed up we left.

Mark I sure look forward to hearing about the rest of the hunt. If I remember right last year you got some pretty awesome pics to share with us too! Good luck with the rest of the hunt and stay bee free! Thanks for the update.
