Southwest Idaho?

My friend bought a dairy in Filer, Id a couple years ago and keeps asking me to come out and hunt with his friends. He doesn't hunt so I have been kinda reluctant to take him up on his offer. However, I have been getting the itch to go elk/deer hunting somewhere other than Utah.

Do any of you hunt near this area? If so, how is the hunting? Is it difficult to purchase a tag for a non-resident?
