Sportmans Warehouse to Remain Open in Utah

Wow, those of us living in Utah dodged a bullet with this one. Sportmans Warehouse is closing 23 stores due to the recession.

I may get trolled for this but here goes.
I was pretty stoked when Cabalas opened in Lehi, been there several times. I’ve ordered a few things on line and bought a few things at the store. Once I learned what they were buying private land and blocking access to public land I quit shopping there. That and the prices are way to high for me.
I then started going to Sportsmans, what a joke that place is. I can completely understand why the business is shrinking. Not only are the cupboards bare a lot of the time, but the folks that I have asked to help me were either too busy flirting with one another or just plain jerks. I’m sure its not all of them, but the ones that I have delt with had no customer skills whatsoever.

My new favorite place? Bass Pro shops.

I shopped at a sportsmans in Dallas for about six months. Dozen flys upick for 10 bucks. The same flys at cabealas were from $1.50 to $2.50 a piece. The turkey and elk calls were less too. Same brands. The store suddenly closed. My wallet misses that store alot.

This is just personal opinion but here it is. I definatley prefer shopping at Sportsmans warehouse that is closest to where I live. They usually keep everything stocked well and they are very helpful. What I like about them best is they give military discounts. Cabelas is very disapointing with their high prices and all their money... Aparently they can't afford to give military discounts! Guess it is jus the way things are though.

I've been happy with the Sportsman in my area (St. George) and am glad they aren't closing.

My wallet is the reason I'm happy that sportmans isn't closing. I live closer to Cabelas than sportmans. Cabelas is a great place to take the kids when I'm stuck watchin them. My purchases however lead me to Sportsmans. The prices are significantly better there. Often for the identicle peice of gear. I do hear what others are saying about customer service. It can get real busy in there and you have to fend for yourself at times. The wait at the gun counter can get old. I'm glad to see them staying around. I hate to see stores closing in this economy. Lost jobs for more people.

I hear ya on the prices at Cabelas sheesh a guy cant afford to shop there.

I made the mistake once by saying I got stuck with the kids. Man that went over like a lead canoe, ha ha ha. Youre going to be in the dog house too.
Ok back to the post, before Hawk starts the Spiderbull thread..... :))

So far my wife doesn't read anything I post on here. :-$

I don't get "stuck" with my kids. It was just a poor way of saying Cabelas makes for a good time passer when the wife is going to be gone for a while.

Do you think I'll be able to stay out of the dog house with a retraction like that? [-o<

The Sportmans warehouse here in Colorado there are (6) there are 5 of them I shop at from time to time depending on who has what in stock. I always call around to them to check stock if I really need something before drivng off to them. It is amazing how much the customer service and stock differs from one store to the next only miles apart.

Well there still better than Gander Mountain or Bass Pro.

the one in coloradosprings will remain open and the people who work at that are good . you can still see the core group of assosicates that opened that store when you go in there . the stock issus is another thing , so items such as ammo and guns , the sales sky rocketed when the new president took office back in january . other ones are due to the hard econmic times and a reduction of inventory til the company makes it over a hard month ahead and business should be back to normal and the shelves stocked once again with inventory according to the assosicate that i talked to on thursday .
