There was a comment made about an orginization in a highly debated topic in the forum. I would like everyone to know that this orginization is for real. They are not raking in millions for their own bennifit. The fact of the matter is that they are rasing money for projects that bennifit wildlife. I was involved in one such project on the Paunsagaunt two years back. A huge water tank in the middle of the desert had naturally been filled with sand. SFW spearheaded the project with the Utah DWR to remove the sand so that the tank would fill with water and give the deer something to drink, not only when there was no snow, but in the summer too. SFW and volunteers from Utah's Dedicated Hunter Program, spent a day cleaning the tank out. When the end of the day came all went home and the job was unfinished. All of the next day five men spent the day hand digging the rest of the tank out. Another local project is to be headed up this spring improving a portion of winter range that deer no longer winter on because it is overgrown. Don't try to say that SFW is a greedy orginization trying to bennifit from the hundreds of thousands of dollars they raise for the bennifit of wildlife. I think that some people are errogant in their posts, and at times I'm sure I am too. Lets just try to not point a finger at specific groups of hunters or wildlife enthusiast blaming them for contributing to the down fall of wildlife. Much of the impact on wildlife comes from humans. Weather it be shed hunters, hunters, wildlife viewers, orginizations, or wildlife management agencies, the fact of the matter is that all of these groups are a group in and of themselves. We are all striving to better wildlife so that we will be able to enjoy wildlife. The solution, and causation, to our problems lay within wildlife enthusiasts. No matter who's to blame, we all need to work together to better the wildlife that we all treasure! And that is that!

what is this sportmans for fish and wildlife. sounds like a pretty good group of wildlife enthusaists. i wish wyoming had more groups of folks like this. i mean most all the improvement projects i have worked on have been while i worked for the blm in southern wyoming. most all the projects were benefited by all wildlife and stock alike. the projects were funded by the government to help ranchers with spring development and fencing and road improvements. although they were pointed directly at stock and grazing, the deer, elk, and antelope benefited as well. i could talk to you on the phone about my attitudes and opinions about wildlife improvements and there would not be enough time in the week to express them thoroughly. i really look up to the states and the guys/gals that donate there time and hard earned money to wildlife projects, my hat off to these people. i wish wyoming was more involved. but anyhow, shedhunter, keep up the good work!
