You guys need to see him in person. It is hard to show all of the "pretty" trash that he has!

Thanks again,
Stephanie

Stupid question here, hopefully Roy chimes in:

How will this buck be measured now that it has been repaired?
I'm assuming the repair is not removeable?
Or Steph, do you just not care about the book?

Just wondering..............

First off, what an awesome animal....congratulations ma'am on a beautiful buck!

Chet:

Not a stupid question at all. B&C accepts repaired trophies for the record books on a case by case basis. Trophies that have been repaired can be accepted by the Records Committee if the owner or the Official Measurer identifies the repair, and if the repair is made with the original antler material.

When scoring any trophies that have been repaired, no portion of the repaired material can be included in any measurement nor can any allowance be made for lost material. For example, measurements of repaired points or main beams can only be taken to the point of the break.

ok, so the fixes have to be off the same animal? If she used a tine off of a deer she killed three years ago, BC wont accept it? What are the odds of finding the broken peices?
Or did you mean that the tines have to be antler and not some other synthetic material? not necesarily off of the same deer... just want to clarify.....

Fixed or broken, that deer is AWESOME!
To fix or not to fix, it would be a hard decision for me, a decision I hope to someday be confronted with!!! Heck the biggest deer I've killed probably scores less than what was broken off of Stephs buck lol

I beleive I heard the Gov tag buck was intact when shot, but broke during the death crash, now a scenario like that you could easily find the broken parts for repair. Or if a chunk was shot off during the excitement. However to find broken tips and cheaters from a rutting/fighting buck would be near impossible!!!! now i'm just rambling..... carry on folks!

Correct.....it can only be measured to original break, with the altered tine removed.

Bowhntr correct me if I am wrong or read it wrong but I believe that even though it is broken it can still be scored, the repaired material just cant be counted, Like in Troys case it broke on the death crash and pieces were found and put back in their original place and the repair didnt add any legnth to the points then it can be measured and counted, Does this make sence, Now since the whole tip of this buck was repaired it cant be counted but if the taxi just glued the original point back on and made reference that the point was broken off and glued back on that point then could be measured and counted not just to the point that it was repaired. Let me know it this is the case or if a point breaks off regardless it cant be counted. Thanks in advance.

i believe [ but will wait for bohntr's reply] is if the tine was say 8 " to start with before being broken, then it fell and broke 4 " off of it, even if you find the original piece, your still just going to get the 4 " left of the broken tine. wether it's the deers tine or not, i think you just gettin measured to the break. BUT WILL WILLINGLY SAY I"M WRONG IF SO.... lol

KB:

That used to be the rule for B&C.....however, that changed......they now may accept it with the original broken piece as long as it fits cleanly back in for measurement. However, as stated in my first reply, it's a case by case basis that the Records Committee must approve.

so troys buck will likely get credit for the boken part, but the B&C board will determine fo sure.

I don't know how the rumor of Troy's buck came about, but the deer had already broke off his antler before he shot it. They never found the broken piece.

As for my buck, the taxi fixed the broken tips. We didn't find any of the tips and I don't think we could. There was about 8" of snow at the time and then more snow added on after that. Plus, there were a "few" days in-between while he had broke them off. Finding those broken tips would be near impossible if you ask me.

Who cares anyway, a big buck is a big buck! The almighty score doesn't matter that much to me. It's only "one" way to guage how big a buck is, that's all!
