Still some lay' n from last year!!!!!!

The four point is nice and I walked by it last year. They were both in the open, little two point set and single average four. Amazing how they can slip through from year to year. All the bucks i have been watching have some off, some with one side and others still packing. The picture is off blood from were two bucks were sparing and one stood in this spot and left this behind. He is close.

I do not think so he looked fine, I was about 100 yards away and this buck and another one was rattling their antlers together then the buck stood their with his head cocked to the side for a minute then left. When I walked to that spot I found the blood. He could have got pocked or who knows maybe coming from a breakage of the peticle? :-k

From what I have seen, many loose little if not none at all. But have found many sheds with blood on the burr and in the snow with blood around them, I think when they do it must be from early shedding or partial breakage of the pedicles.

I have seen certain bucks bleed heavily for a short amount of time. I believe the antler burr/pedicle area and the skin become attached (more on some bucks than others) and when the antler finally sheds it peels back some skin cause some bleeding. thanksf or sharing the pic. I wondered if anyone else has seen that. I have seen a buck that recently dropped with blood running down the side of his face and bloody pedicles, Just part of the process. I remember finding a 6 point bull antler where the burr continued growing under his scalp toward his face. I could tell it grew under the skin because when it shed it had never been rubbed. It really must have hurt that ol' bull to shed the antler becasue of all the blood and scuff marks around where I had found the antler. It must have ripped/pushed his skin causeing severe bleeding. My .02 cents
