Stuck

Went for another drive yesterday and I'm glad we did. I cut this little one out. He looked like he had been there awhile, The blood in the pic looks worse than what it was, just a small scrape. He went over the hill with his mom, I think he will be fine.

That is great the poor little guy got himself or herself in a mess.

I'll tell my story like this; I was pheasant hunting with some friends and we hit this crp patch that was pretty thick mixed with scrubs and plumb thickets. We spooked some whitetails out of the brush and as they ran over the hill we heard a THA-WANG followed by the awfullest crying bleat you ever heard. What we found was a doe fawn did not quite make it over a barbed wire fence and she was hanging helplessly.

We went to try and free her and the plan was for me to flip her over the fence while my buddy held the wire apart. It worked perfect except the part where she gave a departing kick which broke my buddies hand.

I'm glad we freed her but learned a lesson at the same time because that kick could have been much worse.

Thiswas in November so she was probably nine months old or so but believe me she was plenty strong and those hooves were plenty hard.

Good job!I have seen those goofy lil buggers hit a sheep fence like that on a full run, bounce back 20 feet and never miss a beat, just take off in another direction like it never happened. ](*,)

Hey southwind,

I've released two elk calves and several antelope from barb wire fences like that. Don't remember for sure how right now but used a lever to turn the wires and they just fell right out. Now the one in sheep fencing, that's a cut job it looks like to me.

I have released several speedgoats and deer from fences. If they are stuck in the top two barbed wires just put a stick or something and twist it what ever way needed and they will fall right out. But for the bull elk I will cut it. No sence in getting jabed by antlers.

By the way I keep hearing speedgoats crawl under fences :)

Poor little guy. I've come up on a few deer that have broken their legs or their back jumping over fences.
