Team WAM's last weekend

Well, not to good of a weekend cause every were we went fourwheeler tracks, :222 (@@) :>/ :nono: (X) any way we still found some bone. We also had all the kids with us so it made it more fun that way. Me and Antler 08 found 25 all together, plus my new chocolate lab Kyra found my only freshy a true three with three little kickers coming off it. I passed it in the sage brush and she stopped and was smelling the burr, good girl. :thumb Had a good trip but not what it shouldve been. Here are a few off my pics, Antler 08 will post some of his as well. Enjoy

Here are my two biggest ones. The two year old would be about 75-80 single scored 5 point. Also the freshy true three which could be labled as a six point with the three cheaters on the G-3.

Friday and Saturday, to windy Sunday. We hiked for about 15 or so hoours. Kinda sad when you hike to the top of ridges just to see ATV tracks all over the place. Oh well we found bone. Like last weekend when me and Wild Antlers went out, I glassed a real nice year old four point and on my way over I heard motors and when I got to the top of the ridge two ATV's drove down the ridge and they picked it up, I was P***ed and wanted to have them come my way or leave and go for a walk then I just might have drained their fuel and let the air out of their tires plus remove the spark plug. Just a FYI lol

Nice job not coming home empty handed anyway, you got some nice ones! I'm sure the kids have a great time out there with you guys, and I would love a dog that could sniff out the bone and help out a little! How old is she? and are you guys training her yourselves?

Doesn't that suck when ya get out there and hike your butt off just to find that someone else has already cased the joint the lazy way?! But I learned on one particular trip with 230+ that those people on the wheelers mostly just wheel right past them and in some cases even over them! lol and that's the best part, when you find them right next to their tracks :)

Yeah, we have found them that way. Kyra is 10 months old, yeah I am training her she has a bunch of old ones here at home and that was her first trip out. She starting out good so far. Now for the elk bone, see how she does on them. [-o<

Gotta agree on the atv's they need to be stopped. I went into one of my fav spots the other day(one that atv's are not allowed in period) and found 9 singles and a set. So i went back a few days later to pick up the other ones and some guy was camped close and had an atv, i got to the spot and found that this _ _ _ _ had gridded the whole area out. I hiked for bout 40min and left. i had a pen and paper ready to write down his info and was going to tell him i was doing it very politely of course, but he had pulled camp already. Dont know bout you guys but i will turn in every off road atv i see from now on and i'm even an atv lover and owner.

We must be talk'n bout diffrent units but i'll bet ya could pick any unit in the state and the problem will be the same. Ya know 10 years ago i had no problem with the atv's but it is beyond out of control now days and all of us need to start turn'n these guys in cause the local authorities do very little.

Well if ya don't mind me askin....how are you training your lil' Kyra? I have been interested in purchasing a lab for shed hunting, but I am debating on wether to buy one as a pup and train, or pay the thousands of dollars for a finished dog.... :-k

Is it a difficult process to train a dog to sniff out the bone? Since you have had Kyra, what's your opinion on it?

Dont know if it helps but i know at least a half dozen people who have unsucessfully tried to train shed dogs. Some of them put alot of work in and 2 of them train lion dogs all the time, the impression I got was they pick up a shed once and a while but will run past far more than they find. :-k Guess you would have to check into it more.
