The best release??

Hey guys,
I am in the market for a new bow and all the trimmings. Please help me out with my gear selections. Lets assume that money is no object.
As far as the bow is concerned I am leaning towards the Bowtech 82nd Airborne.
The rest of the gear is up in the air. There is a lot out there, is there a best sight, release, etc? Or is it pretty much personal preferance?
Thanks for your help.

Well the 82nd and the 101st are great bows and super fast, but compared to other Bowtech's they are on the noisy side of the spectrum. If you are looking for a hunting bow I would look at the reliable Guardian or the not as fast but the quietest of them all...the General. I just bought the Guardian and love it!

As for the rest this is what I use and suggest:
-Trophy Taker Original Fallaway Rest ( Trophy Taker is the best choice )
-Scott Archery Sabertooth Release (Scott makes a few other good releases, I would go to your local dealer and try them out usually the small shops dont mind if you open the box and try them on, needs to be comfortable this makes the bow and your setup)
-SIMS Limbsaver Hunter Pack Camo Stabilizer
-APEX NITRUS MICRO-ADJUST 4-PIN WITH LIGHT Sight (APEX and Toxonics make great sights)
-Carbon Express Maxima Series arrows are the best out there or if you need something lighter on the wallet Gold Tip *ro Hunters are really good.
-WASP Broadheads "SHARP SHOOTERs"

Good luck and happy hunting :arrow

I have found what works good for me may not work for you. The product that Joe has mentioned is great product!

The best advise I could offer is to take your bow to your local professional bow shop. There they can introduce you to the newest and best product for that bow. And what I like is you can try it and if you don't like it or it dose not seem to work well with your set up have the rep. change it out until your happy.

Good luck and good hunting :arrow

trophy taker is great, but i wouldn't get the original one, they have came 10 times better now, get the drop zone or at least the shaky hunter, they are better. but like hiker said, it doesn't matter what anyone else shoots, you should go to a pro shop and see whats best 4 u! but you should at least look at Spot hog sights, there is no sight thats better! thoughest sight on the market! but there are alot of good ones out there

Thanks guys,
I totaly agree with you guys in that I should go try some different items out, the only problem with that is finding a decent local shop. The only one in our area is very small and keeps a very limited stock. I figured I might be able to get a list of favorites from you guys then drive two hours to a shop and check them out. The best local thing I have is the internet, so I hope I can do a little research here at home in order to save me a bunch of time at a shop.

I appreciate your time.

I have a Bear Obsession with a Trufire Judge release. In hindsight I would go with a Huricane release because of the way it folds up behind your wrist out of the way when you want to use your shooting hand. http://trufire.com/judge.html

As far as sights go, I love my Montanna Black Gold five pin Flash Point sight. The pins always seem to be appropriatly bright. (If it aint, shooting hours are probably expired)

And as far as rests go, I like my Wisker Biscuit (Am I too simple?).

The best advise that I think all of us would agree with is you need to see all these products and get your hands on them, it is the best way to buy these kinds of products, so you know what you feel comfortable with; I did all my research prior to the buying day then went to the shop, in Ohio(2 day drive from home).
But I wouldn't rely just on the Internet, sometimes the best advertising and blog are not always the best answer.

I went back to my wifes hometown to find a bow from a good shop so I dont know of any good local shops, but the guys on here should be able to help....

I really like the TRU Ball releases. I like how they close automatically, after the shot. I use a basic Cobra sight and regular pins none of that extra fiber optic wrap stuff for me. I shoot the Gold Tip Prohunters and love them. For I rest I have the Cobra drop away. It had a deeper launcher than the TrophyTaker and was $10 cheaper and I haven't had any problems with it.

Have some fun with whatever fun new stuff you decide to get!

Have any of you had trouble with the whisker biscuit tearing up your vanes? That's about the only thing I have heard about them.

As far as realease I use a Carter Quickie II and love it! My other accessories are Dropzone GS arrow rest, Cobra Sidewinder LX, Fuse stabilizer and quiver, Carbon Express Maxima hunter arrows, Rage 2 blade broadheads, Blazer vanes.....And I shoot a Hoyt Ultra Tec which they do not make anymore and I think it is the best bow they ever made IMO.

I would like to try a 101st Air born that bow kind of caught my eye. I am not real impressed with what Hoyt has out now and that is from a twenty plus year hoyt shooter.

I haven't had any. I've heard they slow the arrow down a little but it's negligible.

I have only shot a whisker buiscut on my bowfishing rig. Works great for that yet I have no fletchings on bowfishing arrows.

On my hunting bow I use the spot hogg seven deadly pins. (love it)
I use a shaky hunter drop away rest.
I currently shoot gold tip arrows but I think I will changing over to carbon express maxima arrows.
I love my truball release and My wife and kids all shoot with the same release. No flaws at all.
My bow is a mathews outback.

This has worked successfully for me for deer, elk and javelina.

I have to give another vote for the Carter Quickie II. I liked it so much I bought a second one for a backup. I also use the ripcord arrow rest and can't picture using anything else.

I would recomend finding a good pro shop and buying what they recomend and feels comfortable, Just because the pro shop knows how to make it shoot and if its comfortable to you then its a win win.
