The story of solid 6

Let me say that the montana decoys are a wise buy. Earlier in the hunt we stalked 3 diferent bulls. The bulls could care less for a bugle or cow call, we could not bring them in. The closest we could get to any of them was 80 to 100 yards before the wind changed or another bull spotted us. BUSTED all 3 times. Then the idea of a hochie momma decoy. Since the would not respond to calling, we chose to walk behind the decoy. It was worth a shot, the indains use to wear buffalo hides or coyote skins to get close their prey. We spotted 3 bulls feeding on a open hillside. One was a huge 6. We started after him by walking on top just off the horizion. We got to a wash that ran down to the big 6, got the hoochie momma decoy out and started down the hill. As soon as we crested the horizion, 2 other bulls were under us. One of which was solid 6. What a sight it would have been to be on the other side of the ridge watching 3 men behind a decoy walking up to 2 bulls. I think if I wasnt one of the guys behind the decoy, and seen this crazy attempt I would have died of laughter.
We slowly walked down an open hillside to the bulls, at 80 yards the both looked at us. We stood still and gave a cow bleet. They put thier heads down and keept feeding!@! We got within 60 yards to 50 yards then 40. At forty they looked at us and must have seen a 6 legged cow, they knew somthing was up. They busted around a point, the point that we were on. We headed them off as the came across it. A cow call stopped them long enough for a arrow to split solid 6ers heart.
I am now a montana decoy fan.

That's an awesome story! I have never heard of anyone using those decoys in such a way. Naturally, I've heard of folks hiding behind them...but NEVER walking around pretending your a cow elk! Good thing you didn't get some over-eager bull that decided to "take a turn" with a willing cow while the big boys were distracted!

Again, CONGRATS!
