This mornings scouting trip.

Well I didn't see the big one from last week but did see some other good ones. These are three different bucks in the same canyon about 500 yards from each other. BTW, when a map says there is a trail, don't always beleive it. Where I went, there was supposed to be a trail but it was actually a route and a very tough one too. I scaled cliffs and bushwacked armpit high brush for over a 1/2 mile straight. It's time to ice down the knees.

Enjoy the picks.

To follow up a little on the trip. I had two options on getting to these bucks, either take a trail that rises 3000' elevation and all uphill or come from the backside and climb 1000' and then down 500' and up 500' then down 1000'. I choose the second "route" not trail, as pointed out before. What a mistake, I will be coming in from the other way next time.

This picture shows the rocky cliff in the background that I traversed and then looking back at the aspen saddle in the distance in the second pic. Also, I found a huge fresh buck track and followed it about 1/2 mile before it headed into some thick pines.

One more thing. Because of the problem with my knees, my wife really doesn't want me going out alone any more, with good reason. So I am giving an open invite to anyone that wants to hunt the Utah northern muzzleloader season with me or if not hunting, could take the opener off and help my out. WARNING... must be in good physical condition. The payback would be ten fold. Just PM me if interested.

9er, thanks alot but that there lies my problem. I have a few poeple that have told me maybe they could make it but won't know until a few days before. Kind of makes me a little nervous putting all my eggs in that basket.

I'll go!

Oh wait, the baby! #-o

Seriously though, have johnnyutah go with you. I don't think he's interested in taking anything unless it's with his bow. In fact he might be tagged out by then. From what I understand he's also half goat.

Wish I lived up there and didn't have to teach school. I'd be all over it. If someone doesn't take you up on the offer there nut, especially after those sweet pictures!

Ridge,

I can't believe you haven't had someone take you up on this offer. Give me a call and I think I could find at least a day or two to go with you. I think I could work out opening morning and...... just give me a call...I owe you more than one.
