My son and I were able to get into some very beautiful tiger muskie Friday . They took a 6' fly that looks like a sun perch. We used 7 wt fly rods and sink tip fly line and steel leaders.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't tiger muskies a crossbreed and sterile to help clean out trash fish without overtaking a body of water? Seems I recall they put them in Maysfield Resevior in WA a few years back to get rid of suckers but not enough to decimate the trout.
Never made it down there to throw a line at them but sure would love the chance to do it!
Reminds me of one time when I took my kids trout fishing while stationed in CA. They caught a total of 22 fish between them all and good 'ol dad caught NONE! I was using the same rigs and even got to a point where I was kicking them out of thier spots to try to catch one. They would move to a new hole and continue catchin' em....I couldn't catch a cold in a snow storm!! They all got quite a kick out of it and wouldn't stop laughing every time they landed another one.
BUT.....I'll remember that trip forever!
Thanks for sharing my friend!
Yes they are sterile. They are across of Muskie/Pike.
In California (Davis Lake ) some one dumped some Pike in the lake and Dept of fish and Game has spent Millions to try to get rid of them without any luck. They even poisoned the lake and the Pike came right back. Only takes a few to repopulate a lake. They are worried about the pike working there way into rivers of wild steelhead and distorting the fishery.
RobK.
We used to go up ta Canada every year fishin for them and they are a mean a$$ fish with a face full o teeth.
The pics are not great I had to scan them. The one pic is my brother with a pike and the other is a Bear with a fish in his mouth, we had to go dump fish at a certain spot to keep bears out of camp.
