Trail Camera Setup

I am sure this question has been asked before but I could not find it in the search.

How is the best way to setup a Trail Camera on a trail?

I know 90 deg is bad. I have tried many angles but just can not get it correct. Most of the time I will get pictures when the deer is going one direction but not the other.

I have two Moultrie cameras.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Unless you have something to put their head right where you want it like a salt lick or water hole, it will be tough to get the exact picture that you want. If you are always getting pictures of their butts all the time on the same trail cause they are always headind the same direction then I would spin the camera 180. One thing that I've found is that I usually only get about a quarter to a third of the pitures to come out just the way I want them to no matter what kind of set up I'm using. You just have to kind of weed through all of the pictures to get the few that you like.

I have two cameras and the one over the feeder gets a lot of good pics.

But the one that I put on the trail is spotty at best. I have tried to point it one direction and then the other on the same trail. Usually the pictiures that I get is the approcing picture. I am thinking that I should be alble to place the camera to get pictures when they are comming or going.

I know that they are going both directions (tracks) why can't I get them going both directions. When I set the camera out I usually test it and get the same results.

It is just frustrating. ](*,)

I would definetly use a salt block (trophy rock) or some kind of deer attractant. My favorite is called Pig Out which comes in big jugs. You can just dump it on the ground,or on a salt rock, or a stump. Mule deer love the smell and it is potent. They can smell it from a mile a way. If you use this the deer will stop and lick it and give your camera plenty of time to take pictures. I hope this helps. It seems to work for me. Good luck
