traveling bow case

If you were to fly to somewhere to hunt. Can a guy use a nice hard plastic gun case on the airplane and still protect his bow or should he order up a metal bow case?

I used a cheap plastic "bow case" and was fine on my trip. But with what most of us have invested in our bows, $1,000.+, I will definately buy something better than my $30-40. case I have now. I can't visualize how a plastic gun case would out unless you shoot a longbow.

SKB makes some great bow specific hard-shell cases, I believe they have TSA approved locks as well.

I just purchased an SKB hard plastic case for $100 and would trust it to protect my bow from the airlines.

I have a Kalispel hard bow case (aluminum).......bullet proof. The SKB will work as well.....both are nice cases and airline rated.

You know, I use a SKB rolling duffle very similar to the BadLands TerraGlide series...It splits and the bottom is hardened which I also renienforced with foam...It fits my AlphaMax or Allegiance plus accessories and I put my hunting clothes on top...

The duffle part handles my arrow case and other clothing and such...Flown several times, perfect! This also frees up space for another bag/duffle or a cooler for meat and such on the way home! xcrossx

SKB is hard to beat for the price. Sight in when you get to your destination. My last trip my bow was okay when I got to New Hampshire but when I got home it shot a foot left from being tossed around. It was a Copper John sight which is fairly rugged.

I've got the SKB Parallel Limb Geometry case. It has enough room in it for other stuff. I try to pack a decent amount of clothing in it for added protection for my bow. I also bought a fishing scale to keep at my house instead of on the boat. This way I can get much closer with the weight in my duffel and the bow case. I got hit with an over weight charge a few years ago and it was pretty pricey.

That SKB case that is on sale doesn't have the TSA locks on it. I don't know how the overall quality is, but the one I have has the TSA locks. Just my 2 cents.
