Hey Yall I finally narrowed it down to 2 new bows for me. I am trying to decicde between the Hoyt Alphamax 32 or the Pse X-force dream season. My problem is I have a really short draw only 26 but I do pull 70 lbs. so i would like something faster than my Reflex Grizzly. What would the Pros and con's be for me with each bow please help and thanks.

I have shot all of these bows and the Drenalin, Vectrix and X-Force were side by side when I did. The KE, speed and decibel level of the X-Force is very impressive but it is not a smooth feeling bow in your hands. With that much speed, it hits hard and vibrates a significant amount more than the other bows in that study.
Additionally, they were comparing PSE’s speed bow to the competitions regular bows. The Bowtech holds an 8” brace height, the Hoyt a 7” and the Matthews a 7” as well. The PSE has a 6” brace height along with some wicked cams. Hoyt, Matthews and Bowtech all have speed bows, so it would be better to run a test against those models.
A few points I really liked:
1. With the X-Force your arrow is in the air for a shorter amount of time which means the “elements” don’t effect it as much.
2. Hunting with one pin from 15-40 yards.
3. The penetration is deeper. This can be big if your arrow is not placed well.
4. 60lb draw weight on this bow shoots as fast as the other 70lb models they were studying. This might help with issues 1 & 2 below.
A few things I don’t like and lead me to buy a Vectrix:
1. It feels like you need shoulder surgery after you pull it back. Very long “valley.”
2. Try holding the X-Force at full draw for one minute versus the other bows. You would be very surprised as to how much more you will shake and what does that mean, a bad shot! Odd they don’t test things like this that happen in the field all of the time. ;-)
3. The bow vibrates in your hand a lot, and to me, it felt nothing like the other three bows which were much smoother.
4. You can’t use a fixed blade broadhead with this bow – it’s too fast! Expandable blade broadheads are questionable in performance and you will always hear a horror story about expendable’s.
At the end of the day I like something that is smooth, fast, quiet, feels good in my hand and can get the job done but most importantly it’s your shot placement counts. You can throw all of this garbage out of the window if you don’t practice regularly and stay on top of your game.
You can kill all types of big game with all of the bows mentioned in the study. For me, confidence in the field is the absolute most important thing. If you don’t feel good about your equipment, disasters can happen. I didn’t feel good pulling back that bow, holding it for 60 seconds, releasing with my eyes closed (much more vibration) or the way it felt in my hand…just to name a few.
I get very technical about these decisions and base them primarily on real life situations while hunting and which product will truly help me be the most accurate and lethal predator I can be.
i recently went and shot the new hoyt alphamax and the mathews reezen, both AWSOME bows. i would have a hard time deciding between the 2.
also, dont forget to check out the diamond "icemaker" its another awsome bow
ive never shot a ross, but hear only good things about them
good luck with your search, keep us updated on what ya get
