Reminds me of when I found out turkeys do roost in trees. I was about 15 and hunting deer with a buddy. Early morning and he wants to shoot a turkey out of a tree. I told him he was crazy because turkeys do go in trees. Ended up about ten of them up in that tree but I still wouldn't let him shoot. Didn't have a turkey tag, let alone a shotgun, as we were after deer.

Yeah, they spend the nights in trees. These turkeys like this old dead oak for some reason. No protection, right out in the wind. They must be the toughest birds there is. no problem with -30.

Allen, Only a few years ago MN DNR said wild turkeys could never make it in this part of MN. To cold and to much snow. There fore would never stock turkey's here. Anyway in the Winter of 04-05 two young turkeys showed up at the farm, but disappeared as the snow melted. The next winter 5 showed up. This year there are 12 in one group and at least 3 big tom's that I've seen sneaking around. And I hear of other groups in the area. Now the DNR say they will stock birds this Spring (???) So far there are no permits for hunting turkey's here. We think the DNR wants to take credit for the success of the wild turkey's and sell licenses in the future =D>

LOL. Funny how they like to take credit for the good things that happen naturaly. Then they play dumb when something bad happens. Hope you get a tag soon.
