Unit 23 New Mexico Gila- Please Help

I have drawn a Tag for Unit 23 New Mexico. I've never been in this area and I was thinking of hunting around Glenwood area and up to the Blue Mountain range. Does anyone have any advice?

I've never hunted mule deer before. Only Elk and Whitetail. I am using a rifle in mid November. Will they be rutting? Low elevations or higher up? Should I stay near water?
