Unknown Track

This track was in the mud at one of my waterholes that I hunt, and I am unsure of what species it is. It was about the size of a large dog track. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.

Lion track... A young one as the size is small, but there are no claw marks, which indicate a cat. Dogs will leave their claw marks with their pad impressions. Looks fresh!

Yeah, i figured it was cat track. I just wasn't sure because mt. lions are fairly uncommon in the area I hunt. Probably a youngster looking for a new place to hang his hat. Thank you for your input.

Since there is nothing for size reference im just going by the lil pine needles, its very possible that it is a Bobcat,if its a lion its a tiny cub.

It is very possible that the track is from a large bobcat. The pine needles in and around the track are from a douglas fir. So, if that helps size the track any there you go.

I would say Bobcat, even a very small mountian lion cub has large feet.Judging by the size of the needles this track is about right for a mature Bobcat. :222

LOL...Killer, are ya sure? I thought it was a Chupacabra!!

I think NONYA hit it on the head. It sure looks like a bobcat (I actually thought it was a cougar at first. However, NONYA set me straight. Thanks man).

I first thought Bobcat, then cougar? But I'm not expert on cats at all, so I'll go with my first thought.

BOBCAT

My first thought was bobcat but then I noticed four little claw marks possibly. I know it's not bear(unless it's a four toed bear) but not sure it is bobcat either. Dog and coyote tracks have the two outer toe pads positioned more on the side then aligned on top.???

I don't think that those are claw marks. For one they don't really line up with the pads and second if you look around in the mud you can see kinda the same holes scatterd through out the picture.

I would lay my money on it being a cat track.

There is no doubt its a cat track.A cat stepping into deep MUD or snow can leave slight claw makes if its deep enough. :222

Cat for Sure.

Its hard to judge the picture to be a lion or bobcat
It depends on the size of the track?

Looks like to me its a Bobcat, The picture looks to be zoomed in quite a bit
