Utah Antlerless tags.

More antlerless tags for Utah, I'm fine with some of these and others = bogus IMO.

The deer units, Zion and Pine Valley were the main reason we went to a 5 day hunt because the herds were low and buck to doe ratios stunk. Now we think were good again and lets take out more does??????????

Same thing the have done to the area one of our ranchs sits in,used to be tones of muleys, the ranchers bitched about their hay till the F&G issued hundreds of doe tags for the last 10 years, now you cant find a muley anywhere you can hunt in the area, nothig but worthless WTs now.

I think what Nonya alluded to is the real problem, ranchers/farmers call up the DWR saying that there are too many deer getting into my hay/fields. The DWR is obliged to solve the problem. Most commonly they issue mitigation permits however according to the dwr rules if the cost of the damage is more than the value of the permit " (1) The division may provide compensation to landowners or lessees for damage to cultivated crops on cleared and planted land, or fences or irrigation equipment on private land caused by big game animals pursuant to Section 23-16-4."

When the cost of compensation becomes to high the DWR can solve the problem in a number of ways. One of which is "(ii)recommending to the Wildlife Board an antlerless big game hunt in the next big game season framework;"

There decision chain can be seen at the following link: http://wildlife.utah.gov/rules/R657-44.php

I would be careful calling all ranchers and farmers the problem. The last time I looked out my window on the ranch I own, there are alot more species of wildlife that live and winter within my area than there are any where around it. Maybe there is a problem within the unit that lies around the area that is drawing the majority of the deer into the fields that support the wildlife. In our case that would be mustangs or lions!!!

There are alot of big ranches that support wildlife managment and invest alot of time and money with certain groups that most of us on this forum would support. I would be a little more proactive towards to the agriculture community because they feed alot of wildlife through the year and not all are against us.

Amen to that Nevada. Having grown up on a farm I well know the damage deer can do to crops, Hay, corn, soy bean. They can do some real damage. Once they find it, it is hard to get them to leave. The problem in IL(and I expect else where) is over development of and intrusion into the wildlifes normal environment. Hey don't get me wrong, I am no tree hugging activist, but come on people you can not build a subburb on the side of a mountain then bi!@ because the deer eat your flowers and the bears nap in your back yard trees. Hey its not your back yard it is their front yard. #-o :>/

Sorry for the rambling rant. That issue gets me p-o ed quick.

Hey Nevada! Need any help with those lions? [-o< [-o< [-o< :))

I agree, well said guys while there is and are a few ranchers complaining and basically don't like wildlife on there property or related damages. I think these people are a minority, I know several rancher/farmers with land that do support wildlife management on and off there land.

A HUGE thanks to you guys/gals and all who do! :thumb
