Geez i have been waiting for the 1st to enter my elk picks and it turns out my card expires on 5/12 and I have to get my new card before I get my draw done ](*,)

Do you have a hunting license left over from last year to apply on? You probably already know this, but you can apply for two years on one license. Unfortunately mine expired last Feb 22, so I will need to wait until later in the month to apply. That way I can apply at the first of the month next year without buying another license since they are good for 365 days.

 That's funny. Your card expires... mine is maxed out. I need to submit my taxes and hope for a speedy return before I can apply!

In regards to what I'm putting in for:
General Deer: Fishlake muzzy (1st Choice), Ogden muzzy (2nd Choice)
Elk: Book Cliffs late rifle
OIAL: Ogden moose

I'm not expecting to draw anything but the general deer.

Ahh man that sucks.

If you get in a bind just go get a gift card to pay for the costs that are due now then if you draw you can give them you regular card to pay for the tags. The DWR is really good about working with you to make sure you get your tag.

Great Idea! I could just put all the $$$ on it then when I DON"T draw I could just use money on something else. But anyway that is a great idea.

YAAAAAA BABY! I just got my new card and entered in for the draw. I decided to go the Beaver LE Muzzy 1st choice and Archery second. I did not want to burn my points on a lesser hunt so I will keep trying for this one I am only maybe 2 years from drawing a tag. [-o<

This is my first year putting in for the archery Pahavant so I'm praying the I only have a couple of years also. [-o<

Since I now see what time it is that I type this I must be dreaming about drawing any time soon. lol

 I'm glad to hear it worked out!

Here's what I'm going for this year:
General Deer : Cache Muzzy (1st Choice), Box Elder Muzzy (2nd Choice)
Elk: North Cache Muzzy
Bonus point for Moose

I'm not expecting anything other than General deer... although that elk tag would be pretty awesome :thumb

I drew the Henry magmnt tag last year with 4 points. Keep your fingers crossed.
I had talked to a DNR biologist at the open house last week and he said that they had already had 300 Dedicated Hunters put in for the Thousand Lakes unit. So anyone putting in for that, Good Luck. You'll need some help.

As far as my picks go.

GSD (Archery) 1st- San Juan, Abajo Mtns.
2nd- Fishlake
3rd- Central mtns Manti
4th- Wasatch mtns, Avintaquin

Oh and if anyone wants to "see" your unofficial odds of drawing a certain tag, drop a line to derekp1999. He's a self proclaimed "numbers nut" and has a formula to figure it out. He put the offer out there somewhere else on the site. I can't remember where though.

 I actually put in for the tag with the intent of not drawing it. I figure if my luck changes and I do draw I probably won't feel too bad about it. My dad, who I usually put in with, is out of the country this year and so for this one year I figured I would apply for the Henries and then move back to the Book Cliffs once he gets back.

The waiting side of it is easy for me. I don't really have many points for anything so I don't even worry about it. I had forgot all about the turkey draw until the email saying that I was a loser showed up.

The only problem this year is the second guessing. See, I was planning on putting in with my brother, uncle, and grandpa for the late Book Cliffs elk. Going in with about 7 points, so we wouldn't be guaranteed anything and our odds wouldn't be too good... just looking for the point this year really and hoping that next year PTO and "time away from home" will be more available. Neither my brother or uncle wanted to do the late hunt, but without thinking much I just applied with me & my grandpa. We're going in the point group where my projections have us potentially drawing guaranteed tags. That wasn't really the plan, but if we end up drawing we'll make the most of it.

Ya never know. In 2010 I drew the Henries rifle tag with only 1 point that's the beauty of bonus points instead of preference points.
