Utah Elk

I have 13 points this year, and those are my choices as well. For residents i think those are the 2 toughest to draw in the state (not positive on that though). Both are great units though. Godd luck to you and me both! [-o<

both the units have a ton of elk, both are big units with tons of public land
it looks like the wasatch might be easier to draw than the manti

IMO you cant go wrong with either choice, unless your wanting to wait a few more years and try for pahvant etc

I had the Wasatch tag last year. That was the absolute best hunt ive been on. We scouted the first 2 mornings, it was cold and really didnt see much but that night we were on a ridge and could hear bulls screaming all around. We really didnt travel alot of country but there are bulls everywhere. Its just a matter of picking which one you want.
The country we were in was perfect. The elk were in thick pines but there are alot of open meadows. I will put in for the Wasatch again when my wait period is up.
Its easy access. We rode our ranger to a point then started walking the ridge lines from there.
That morning I killed my bull we had 5 other bulls screaming all the way around us that were pretty close. I took my bull before we even seen what the others were just because he was a non typical and couldnt pass up that oppertunity.
Im planning on putting up my game cameras in about the same location this summer just to see whats been comming in. If you would like I can keep you posted if your interested.

I drew out for the Wasatch tag last year through the expo, one of the best hunts I have been on in my life. Saw a ton of bulls everyday. If you end up drawing tags I will be glad to share any info you would need to make your hunt as enjoyable as possible. good luck with the draw.

First off I want to welcome you to the site.

Second although it is not listed on the forum rules this is just a little bit of addvise on a little common curtisy. By making this last post you are basicaly hijacking this thread started by someone else. Please try not to do things like that. You have started a thread on this question your asking already, let the members warm up to you and Im sure some one will take and give you some advise, but when you come on here and just keep shotgunning your question around you may not get any info.
