My FIL hasn't hunted deer since he was in high school and when I saw that there were extra tags for the Cache unit available, I had him snatch one up in hopes of getting him back into hunting... I took him to an area where I took my muzzy buck a few weeks ago and I figured the deer would be in the same general area as they were before. We started hiking early and made it to our spot just in time for first light. The deer seemed to have slept in a bit, because it was a slow start to the morning. Suddenly, things started moving around quite a bit and it was GAME ON!!
I had been watching 4 does to our left roughly 150 yards away for quite some time and noticed that one was looking a little to it's left. I looked through my binos and saw a buck moving towards the does. I motioned to my FIL and quickly ranged the buck at 175 yards. One shot from his .308 and I watched the buck drop at the shot. He was DRT!
My 16 year old brother in law tagged along as well and had a blast on his first deer hunt... The big bucks weren't out today, but I think today hooked two more hunters! My brother in law is already looking forward to going through hunters safety and having a tag in hand next year.

My sister just sent me a pic of my BIL with a buck he took early this morning as well. This was taken out near Roosevelt, UT with a 300 WSM. Sorry about the quality of the pic.

Good times and good for you for getting them out in the field. Hunting is great way for a family to bond. My son got his first buck this weekend and it was an experience neither one of us will soon forget (Pictures and video will be coming).
