Utah Southern 9day?

So with the rut in full swing, and alot of deer getting bunched up on there favorite winter ground now.

What are you guys seeing as far as Buck to Doe ratios, quality of bucks, 2009 fawn crop, and over all populations as compared to 2008?

Do you think the herd was shot out as bad as predicted by going from 5 day to 9?

What I'm seeing in my area:

Buck to doe looks to be around 15 per 100. {Down alittle from 2008}

Quality of bucks. Better than I expected to see. I would say 1/4 or more of the bucks I see are 2 years or better.

2009 fawn crop, Excellent

Over all population, seems to be up from 2008. {I think some of the big fires of 2 years ago are starting to show some benefits}

I don't think the 9 day hunt did as much damage as I thought it would. {Still wish they would have left it at 5 days.}

Just my uneducated analysis.

What are you guys seeing?

I haven't done as much research as you but, I think my area is about the same if not a little better than last year.

I'm not sure it had much of an effect yet, but remember this is only year number ONE back to the 9 day hunt. When they went to the five day hunt originally, hunting stunk in my areas IMO.

So TIME will tell.
