Video Camera

I am lookin to buy a very nice video camera thats gonna be used for pretty much mostly all hunting - and it's gonna be used A LOT! I've saved up plenty and if it's true quality then price isn't too big a deal. I'm not lookin to wheele around some big hollywood video camera deal, but I don't want one a those little hand held things either. What I get will usually be on a tripod set-up but I want it to still be able to hold and handle with two free hands when I need to. Something with a good, steady zoom would be great! I'm gonna look to get a nice, protective hard-case for it as well.

Anyways, I think you all get the idea but could anybody help me out? Does anyone have any cameras they use that work great for their needs that theyd recommend? Even just referrals to good stores or a good, trusting brand name that you've found works well in the mountains. Maybe if you know of a good website for this sort of a video camera would be nice! A link to a specific camera would be great, just any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

I tried to look up that GL-1 but all I could find was the Canon GL-2.. I'm not sure how much different the two are but that GL-2 seemed a little over-priced for what they were sayin about it.. It's cost was somehwere around the $3,800.00 range and from what they said about it that seemed real over-priced for that particular camera. How much did that GL-1 cost ya and where'd ya get it?

Do you know of anywhere I can get some hard cases for a camera about that size

BTW-If anyone knows this particular model - this is about the minimum in size that i am lookin for: It's a great size but something just a tad bigger might fit me perfect

Here is an ebay link to a GL-1, the GL-2 is just the upgrade. I've had mine for a couple of years and paid 1,500 for it off ebay.

The vidoes in our gallery section or photos section of the site were taken with the GL-1, check them out. Quality is great.

Thank you very much - that does look like a pretty good camera, but i'm not gonna buy it from that guy because;
1) the auction ends in 5 hours
2) im a little iffy about buyin somethin like this from some kid off the internet

So for now, im just gonna look around some more - but thank you for the info. that camera is definately an option.

anyone else got some input please?

Thanks guys

if your looking for something that is very small but still has a good zoom and quality. i would suggest the panasonic pv-gs35. it has a 30X optical zoom. i have one and have been very pleased with it and the quality. it is also very small and nice for carrying around.
