Wasatch Extended Area Deer Question

Was wondering what would be best for the Wasatch archery extended Area. My options are either the middle of September or wait for the rut to hit in November? Any Ideas fellow archers?

It gets hit pretty hard during the rut, but I think that would be a much better time then mid September. They are easier to find during the rut, however there are a lot more eyes and ears around with all the does. Good luck!

I hunt the Wasatch Extended Area mostly in August and September because frankly I don't love the cold weather. And the last two years I've done this I've seen a lot of deer. Particularly this year we saw 10-15 bucks in 2 days, and 25 head of elk - all cow/calf. I was lucky enough to arrow a 3x3 on the 2nd day but will definitely be heading back up there for elk. However I hear that you see a lot more bucks hanging with the girls in November, either way you will be able to find deer. Good luck.

That's a tough question! It depends on the type of hunting you like. In September the bucks will be up in the high country. You can easily get away from people if you pick the right area. In November the bucks will be lower on the mountain chasing the does. There will also be hunters every where you go. However, if you hunt escape routes this can be to your advantage. I would bet the majority of big mature bucks are shot in November, but I don't think this for any reason other than more accessible terrain and visible deer.

Either way, I don't think you can go wrong.
