wasatch extended in november

any tips for archery hunting the wasatch extended in november? this was my first elk season ever, i unfortunately missed a cow in the opener...long story short it happened quick and i guessed the range wrong.

so anyways where i hunted wasnt in the extended and i need to find an area to start scouting....i plan on going for a week in the middle of november (still need to look at the regs to know for sure the dates it's open incase it isnt at that point) and im not really sure where to begin....ive heard the extended can be pretty rough, im in shape and willing to hike the distance...just looking for any pointers. ive had some guys tell me they wont even go unless there is snow to push them down and they see them with a spotting scope first. is that how most people do the extended??

i also have a deer tag if i see one along the way, but im really trying to concentrate hard on getting my first elk, i dont care what it is....cow spike or bull. any of them would make me happy.

any thoughts or advice for a first timer?

The wasatch front is tough hunting. But it is an awesome area to hunt. My favorite! I have seen elk above dog lake but they move around alot and its tough to pin point exactly where theyre at. Youre best bet is to just get out and hike your butt off! There are all kinds of trails up big cottonwood canyon and millcreek canyon. As well as many other places. Pick a trail and start hiking.

yeah i've been talking around quite a bit....i guess that's pretty much the best advice ive been getting either wait for snow or just start hiking your ass off....which im going to start doing as soon as the rifle season is over....got a couple spots in mind, might just be exercise but im not ready to give up!
