WASATCH FRONT>>>EVERYONE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok......... I know that alot of guys get on here and hope to get advice on where to go on the extended! and here is the gods honest truth!!!!!!!!

If you want to know where to go just look at the boundaries and get out there and investigate for your self. The chances are that no one is going to give away their honey hole or even lead you near their honey hole.. NOT TO MENTION>>>One mans honey hole may be completely dead one day and hot the next.... You just never know on the wasatch front....IT IS REALLY HIT OR MISS UP THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

The fact of the matter is...You need to be willing to kike your tail off.. especially for the elk...... I have several spots that ONE DAY MAY HAVE A TON OF ELK IN THEM AND THEN THE NEXT DAY HAVE NONE.. The truth is that....... IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE ELK...THEY MOVE AROUND A TON AND WHEN I SAY A TON.......I MEAN A TON.. There is TONS of country up on the Wasatch Front and the animals can travel at least 10x as fast as we can. Most of the time a guess is just as good as some other guys advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly could tell everone on this forum spots to go........ and you may go up there AND SEE A 180 -200 CLASS BUCK OR A 340-360 CLASS BULL.. and then the next day not see shit. So the truth is.....you have just as good of odds going up there trusting your instincts and picking a spot to go yourself, rather than listening to some guys advice on this forum.

I am not trying to be an A$$ H0(3,... I am trying to help.... Your odds of stumbling across an elk or a good buck are the same no matter where you go. That is the great thing about the wasatch front... you never know what you are going to come across while hiking up there.

I do however encourage everyone on here to share their experiences and stories.. just to keep us all motivated. Because the wasatch front will kick your @ss before you kick its @ss and any motivation helps.

I WISH EVERY WASATCH FRONT HUNTER OUT THERE THE BEST OF LUCK AND CANT WAIT TO HEAR THE STORIES/PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100%. If your going to hunt the front then be prepared to hike your a@@ off. As much as we are all here to help each other most people are never going to tell you their hunting spot, myself included. If you want to find a great spot then your going to have to put the time in like the rest of us. Sorry don't mean to be rude.

Take the appropriate actions and do everything possible to eliminate one variable and wash your clothes and yourself using scent killing products.

You need to move quietly, use your binoculars, and hope for a little luck.

Good luck to you all. :thumb

But what if I prefer to hunt from my lawn chair kind of close to a road; where would you recommend?

I would not ask for anyone to give away there best spot. I just dont live close enough to get out there every day. Just be nice to know some good places to access some good country to hunt. I have gotten some pointers and gone with them. I have seen some good country because of it.

I now have something to go on. And I appreciate the help greatly. Of course I would not tell just anyone where my favorite spots to hunt are. But if someone that has helped me out needed some info I would share.

I hunt the Cache. We have some great elk hunting up here if you are lucky enough to draw. I can generaly find bulls. I would help a guy out if he had the chance to hunt for them.

Good luck to all you guys that are still out there trying to find the big one.

Huge, try riding the ski lifts. That way , you can get away from the road and still have a chair to sit in. :thumb

Would that be considered a vehicle or would it be okay to shoot from the lift? Nice eagle eye view, but a little bumpy.

I have been up almost every day at least for three hours just glassing and it is a hit or miss mountain. One day I will see bucks all over and another I might see one doe.

If somebody was asking questions about were to go, and this was a limited entry unit I would be more then happy to give that person advice were to go.

The Front just isn't what it used to be 8+ years ago. You used to see huge muleys all the time. They are still there but not as many.

amen brother =D> If every Tom, Dick and Harry couldn't hunt it, i think everyone would be more helpful, but like mentioned earlier it takes a ton of time and effort to find these so called "honeyholes" and to come on here expecting that is BS.

Like Zrider2 has said, get a map, find some trails up Big or Little cottonwood canyon and start exploring lots of country to be seen up there

good luck all the rest of the season

One more huge thing. Read the Proc! Look at the Map! Understand them! Stay away from the houses, cabins, stay within the boundries, and keep out of private property.
Don't ruin the extended for the rest of us. It is already been in Jeopardy several times.
