Water Bladder water tastes horrible!!!!

I have a badlands back pack, and I just got one of the badland water bladers. The problem is that the water tastes horrible comming out of it. Is there anything that can be done besides adding a powder drink substance to get rid of the tast so that the plain water will taste somewhat decent. thanks.

Clean it out really good I mean scrub it with a brush and then use the chorline tablets by Camel Back

Yup! That's it. You have to get used to the taste a bit. Powders will foul it even worse.

DeadI, I was going to say the same thing Willysdad said in his post. After you clean it out, I would not use powdered drink in it. Unless you are able to thoroughly clean it out after it's been emptied it will foul it up. If you use powdered drinks in it too much it will end up building up and ruining it regardless of how often it's cleaned.

They do make tablets you can drop in your bladder that not only taste good, they are designed NOT to gum up the bladder, hose, or nozzle. They also make these same tablets that claim to help restore electrolites. I would look into one of these options.

You can sign up for this guy's free newsletter- in the last one he was talking about using distilled vinegar mixed w/ water (I think 1 to 3 ratio?) to get rid of the taste. Never tried it, though.

I ended up tossing mine because I just could not get use to the rubber taste. OMG it was like licking a tire. Nothing worse not even dehydration. Now I just load a cache of bottled water in my pack and every time I go scouting I take that cache and burry it (in plastic shopping bags) under a tree in an area where I plan on hunting. I GPS it to make sure I know where they are when we need them. The other good thing is I can send my flags to others in my hunting party to put on there GPS incase they need a drink. It is also a good idea to pack some water proof matches in with the water in a Ziploc bag with some cotton balls ( even better that cotton balls is the lint from your dryer lint trap) incase you need to start a fire quick.

Never even crossed my mind to use dryer lint to start a fire. Good idea though.

Cant help much on the hydration bladder, I dont have one, and by the sound of it i will probably just stick to bottled water.

Clean and deodorize with a little baking soda and water, shake and rinse clean. Add some lemon juice and water. Shake and then rinse clean. Let dry with cap off. No more bad taste.

the tast i have i think is from the hose connected to the bladder I am not sure it is from the baldder itself because it taste like I was licking a tire (that may have rolled threw dog logs) not sure cleaning is going to work to well rubber taste like rubber i think. but i am not sure could work i guess

I forgot to add I always run it through the hose and bite valve. Never tastes like water in a glass, but is tolerable.
