Well i'm off!

I've said a time or two on here that i'm goin shed hunting sometime. Well tomorrow is the big day! My grandpa's here and we leave tomorrow at 9am to drive down to Concho, Arizona (His second home). He has all kinds of business things goin on for a golf course he has down there so i'm gonna be hittin the hills the whole time - I got all day tuesday and wednesday - I wanted to have this whole week but i guess i'll be happy with what I got.

If anyone knows this area even somewhat at all - please let me know where the heck I am and what general areas to start 'hunting'.

Thanks everyone, and assuming I find at least one elk shed (honestly, with 2 full days of walking, id be happy with finding just 1 half decent elk shed) I'll post some pics when I get back. What are my chances of finding some sheds guys? I mean sure theres different variables wherever you go, but when you guys go out can you usually find at least one in a day?

Gleave1,

I have found that shed hunting is like anything else in life. If you put in enough time and effort you will be rewarded. If you cover enough country and keep your eyes peeled, I think you will do just fine. The biggest problem you might have is making sure you are "hunting" where they dropped.

Well, I'm dissapointed to say that i've returned home :>/ And have school in the morning ](*,) . I had a great week and it was one heck of a break but ended up not doing even a second of shed hunting. My grandpa was at my house, so he drove me down in his little car to his second home in Arizona. Fun little town (Concho, Arizona) probably around 20 homes or so. Well the elk hang out in a town calle Sho Lo. A good 25 miles from Concho. I was planning on driving around a 4runner my grandpa has there but he ended up needing it to do his business stuff, he didnt want to trash up his little car down there. So I was stuck at home. Walked around a bit - found quite a bit of Obsidian (is that what the arrowheads are made of? Obsidian?) but I didn't find any arrowheads. Supposedly theres quite a few out there though, I believe it to. Everyone I talked to there showed me all theri arrowheads, they all have tons. I asked them about elk sheds but they didnt know what that was, I told them how elk shed and they said elk come around there not very often, they hang out mostly in Sho Lo so. Most of the people down there still don't believe me that elk and deer re-grown their antlers every year, I still get quite a kick outa that.

Well anyways, I got there after dark Monday night.. Had all day Tuesday, Then left for Las Vegas on wednesday around noon. I'm pretty bummed about still not having ever been shed hunting - but hopefully some day
