Hey guys and gals, I had a few minutes and thought I would drop ya a line. I am currently here at FT Jackson, SC for training before heading into theatre in about two weeks.
After my wife dropped me off in Spokane to catch my flight here I said my good-bys to my wife and two youngest sons (They made the trip up with us), the last thing I said to my wife was "Be careful, it's snowing and I DO NOT want you to wreck my truck". (The roads were NASTY that night)
As luck would have it, after I got my rack assignment and unloaded my gear I called her cell phone...no answer. I then called the house...again, no answer. Well, not 5 minutes after I hung up my brother in law called to tell me that my wife and sons where in an accident...DANGIT!
Well, as luck would have it, everyone walked away....but the truck was totalled. My wife hit some ice, lost control, and rolled the truck over the side of the road. Noone was hurt although my 4 year old got some glass in the back of his head. However, he was more stoked that the "ambulance man" gave him a teddy bear than anything else.
Here are a few pics. Again, no worries though...everyone is fine...and I get a new truck when I get back!
Hope everyone is doing good and I'll try to stay in contact as much as possible.

Best of luck from all of us, and be SAFE. :thumb
Thank Heavens everyone is okay, take care and no more of those wrecks again. [-o<
I hope that this is the most excitement that you have through you whole deployment.
Safe travels to all.
I am glad your wife and boy are alright. That is scary. 4c
Brett, thanks for the offer! I'll hit ya up when I get back my friend.
montanamonkey, do ya know where you'll be in-country? I found out yesterday that I'll be in Camp Anaconda in Balad.
Take care guys!
And I salute you for your deployment and service! All the best and be safe.
Where are you right now, I know you are traveling to the AOR. I might be there

brn2hunt, when I get in-country I'll let ya know the address...thanks for askin' though.
I feel you pain. I know pretty much what you are going through as everything tends to go south the minute you leave. I'll send you a PM a little later about Balad as my daughter spent a year there in '05-06.
Yeah, I guess I get to go to Baghdad this time. Was in Balad last year for 5 months, lots of stuff to do there compared to some places in the AOR. And man is it a big place! I think I get to hang out at home for about a month longer before I go though, that is nice, I was supposed to go next week. Even though it will get me home a month later! At least the fishing is good in Baghdad, and if you ever get to Talill, the fishing there is pretty good too. People sometimes think I am crazy for saying that, but there are some big fish in Iraq! Take it easy over there,
M. Bird
As for things going south when a deployment starts...you ain't kiddin! Last time I went on PAC my wife totaled her car when she hit a deer going 55 mph. I told her I either have to stop deploying or she has to take the bus when I'm gone!
montanamonkey, thanks for the info. I'll keep the fishin' in mind!
M.BIRD, send me a PM and if I find myself in your neck of the woods I certainly look ya up!
