Whack...The best adrenalin rush I have ever had!!

Ok here is the first bull/elk I have ever harvested with my bow… Yes I have been very lucky to take quite a few nice deer, but this is the pinnacle of my archery career.

This bull was up early Saturday morning hitting the high notes and my son and I happen to be just down the canyon. With my son cow calling and hanging back 80 yard I was able to stock to with in 36 yards, it was a text book stock…. Wind in the face, bull racking some juvenile quakes and a nice trail to boot! I keep telling myself you will soon wake up from this awesome dream and face the real world…. Then he turns and moved to my left and presented me with a great 36 yard broadside shot….. Whack, that arrow blew right through him so fast, he lunged forward about 10 yards and stopped. His attention was still 100% on the cow down the trail and acted like nothing had happened. I loaded another FMJ tipped with a G5-Striker and sent it on its way…. Whack! He spun and run into the timber. The G5’s did their job he went 45 yards and expired. DIY on public land :thumb

The best adrenalin rush I have ever had!! and a day before my birthday 9-3-11 " Birthday Bull"
Thanks to the best hunting partner anyone could have, my son Cody! Damn good on the calls!

My redemption bull from the mishap of last years elk hunt, for those that remember my story.

And there's the story....awesome! That is great man. What a rush that must be. Did your FMJ's both pass through? After last year's heartbreak this is just what the doctor ordered. You deserved this my friend. Good job! :thumb

That is definitely redemption. You guys did great. Congrats. The best part is that they were over the counter tags. You can look forward to trying it again annually, where as with your story last year it seemed discouraging that you might not get another chance for years and years.

Congrats again.
