I convinced my father to put in for the management bull on Indian Peaks.

My wife put in for a CWMU deer.

im still debating on what to try, any advice for a deer unit, i only have 2 pts so im a long shot

How big of a deer are you looking for? There is a deer unit on the west side of I-15 down by Fillmore that has some nice bucks but nothing huge. It doesn't take a tone of points to draw in that unit as long as a deer that pushes aroung 150 fopr a trophy for that unit is fine with you.

well how about everyone tell me what i'll put in for???????/ i have 3 points for non res elk in utah- i normally put in for wasatch- but im looking for a unit that i might acually draw that still has 300 - 320+ bulls to be killed,,, any suggestions?????????????

killerbee - With only three points it probably doesn't make a huge difference what unit you put in for, your odds are going to be long anywhere. Are you a resident or non-resident? What weapon are you willing to hunt with? If your a non-resident and willing to archery hunt, the Wasatch might be your best bet.

Deer 1st choice north west of Baggs late season 4% chance of drawing that. So I'll end up hunting Whitetails in the Black Hills

Elk gen. lic./ I can scout for nephew who should be back from Iraq by then and we'll take him out for a cow.

Antelope I'll pick up a left over in the eastern side of the state and hunt close to home.

We are applying for Utah Elk, Nevada Everything have 5 pts, Oregon Everything have 9pts for Elk and 7pts for Antelope we drew deer last year so we have 0pts, Wyoming Deer have 1pt, Colorado deer not sure on pts, California everything also drew deer last year so 0pts.

Ill run down to walmart and BUY my Montana Mule deer buck,wt doe,5-10 md doe tags,bull elk,a9 cow elk,black bear and 2 antelope doe tags,the only tag i HAVE to draw is a antelope buck tag and i have landowner preference in my area so my odds are pretty good.I can buy as many md doe tags as i can afford in the area one of our ranches is in so iget to shoot a deer just about every time i go out,i try to take one with a bow and a few with the smoke pole just for a change in pace.

HUNTIN FOR LIFE
I dicided to just do the bonus points for elk and big horn sheep this year cause of the lack of time i have to talk off work. Im going to be takein time off to help my uncle find a bull elk on the pauns. he has 10 points so hes grantied to draw and i have 2 friends both puttin in for archery deer for the pauns. i think 1 of them has a good chance to draw a tag. so i decided to wait tell next year to put in for the tags.

 I hear there is a UTAH muley season for rifle while they are still in velvet...any truth to this, and how tough is it to draw.

The only place you could rifle hunt muleys in the velvet is if you buy the goveners tag, draw the sportsmans tag or know people that own CWMU units and that will let you hunt in the velvet. Good Luck.
