What country is this again?!?!

I am not sure how to create a link so.....

In Medford OR a man was put on probation from his job for the OR dept. of transportation and his employer contacted the local police with concerns of him retaliation since he was a gun owner.Police monitored him for a few days and he purchased more firearms (with his tax return). The police then set up a pre-dawn raid with the SWAT team and contacted him by phone and he walked out and surrendered (some threat) they placed him in a local hospital for a Psych. Eval. and confiscated all of his firearms. No charges were filed and they still have his guns!!

They state in an article in the Medford Mail Tribune they were being PROACTIVE in the case.Locals are going nuts over this one, look up the article (Police Act Swiftly After Gun Purchases in The Mail Tribune). I read at least 50 responses and not one supported the police in the incident.

Sad to say, but scenarios like this happen all the time, especially in the more liberal states like California, Oregon, etc. I hope that the big gun lobby gets behind this guy and makes some small county pay a large part of it's annual budget to his hunting and gun-buying fund. Then maybe the folks will get pissed enough to vote in some leaders who will politically casterate the gun-grabbing cops who do stuff like this. To me, this is no different than a serious civil rights violation.------shooter

Pretty sad when some idiot can put you in the flight deck of the hospital because of your hobbies and beliefs. Sounds like racial profiling to me. A hate crime directed towards Rednecks I believe. Not a protected species though. :-k
People who owned guns were considered normal where I grew up. Up until 1968 you could order a handgun through the mail from Sears or Wards and we didn't have the problems we have now with all the government intervention. I seriuosly doubt people have changed much. Bible says they haven't. Must be the government. Remember this at election time this fall.

I just read they returned his guns yesterday 5 days after the raid. Seems somewhat of an admission of wrongdoing without officially saying so. :>/

I don't know if the guy plans on a lawsuit or not but IMO the guy has a case against ODOT and the county Sheriffs Dept. :-k

I would LOVE the ACLU to stand up for this guy's rights, but as we all know that will never happen. Though, I am positive if he files a lawsuit against his employer/county/state/law enforcement, the ACLU will be there to defend them instead.

He has formally asked for the Mayor and City Council to look into the Police action but they refuse saying that they don't oversee day to day operations of the Dept. ](*,) Maybe they should #-o

I think he is gonna sue but he is being pretty smart about testing the waters.

We live in a place where we have inalienable rights. We don't study the constitution in school much anymore I guess. The consitution tells where to draw the line. Amp has the right of free speech and that man has the right to keep and bear arms and the protection from illegal search and seizure. Seems the more liberal states really aren't very liberal. I see a big drift away from tolerance of normalcy. If the guy was gay, especially in Oregon, they wouldn't have dared to touch him.
