What do you do with coyotes

Please forgive my newbie status to coyote hunting. It's always intruiged me and I really look forward to the challenge.

My question is, what do you do with them exactly once you bag them? I'm assuming you skin them and process the pelt?

Please enlighten me. Thanks in advance!

The first yote I killed, about a zillion years ago (???) (???) I skinned and tried to preserve :lame What a waste of time. (**!!) Now I take a pic if I have a camera handy. I've hung a quite a few from fence posts, if it doesn't require to much effort. zzz

My December Fur-Fish-Game fur report said they were bringing 25-30 for Western Coyotes. The best pale skins were bringing around 35 to 45.

Down in New Mexico, I have a guy that will buy the dogs for $25.00, if you skin them he’ll give you 35-45 for the hide. It isn’t worth the 10-15 buck to skin them; I just drop them whole (they must be fresh). But he only takes them from Nov-Feb. In the summer I just hang them on fence post. Good way to get permission to hunt some private ranches for big game

What is 1/2 of a dog going for? My 7mm mag. tends to cut the things in half.

ya i'm having the same issues with my 300 weatherby, i sometimes think my bullets aren't performing correctly, they seem to do a bit much damage, lots of wasted meat :))

I field dressed mine and took it to taxidermist. He made us a wall hanging rug out of it. Did a good job too but cost me a good bit. But it sure dresses up the living room. Most guys I asked about it hang em on the fence post I guess. Not sure what Ill do with next one we get. Pic of my yote if you click onthe link at the bottom.

Bounty the sucker. you can either take the whole coyote in if you wanna keep the pelt or something, or if ya dont want it juts cut off the ears. last time i took one in i had the pelt made and they just gave me the bounty, it was like 25 bucks

*ShedPredator*
lol ha yeah for sure the easiest thing to do is just cut off the ears and sell them for the $25-$40 from the closest buyer and then just let the other animals deal with the carcases.

i take the ears also. bounty here is $20.00 . My Dad is a trapper down south he skins dry's and hangs his pelts and last year he got an average of $35.00 for his yotes 15-30 for his fox and 135.00 for his bobcats. I took 10 yotes made $200.00 in 4 days of hunting threw out the year and just kept the ears to take to the Agg building here and only took a total of 7 hours. My dad spends hours on his yotes each and only gets $15 more dollars. i would rather do it my way

Here is what I like to do with them stinky ol dogs

I will also skin them and save the pelts if they have good fur on them.
But the skull is the best part of a coyote!

No joke about the "cutting in half"! 180 gr .308 ripped a seven inch-ish hole through one I got. My guess is that the hide was worth about $0...We just dumped it. Sweet to watch though! :-$ :-$

depends on what they look like to me. ones i usually get are just to get them gone but i did cut one in half with my 270 one day haha my first coyote so i cut off the head and skinned it now its in the freezer til i can get it cleaned out properly and can get a bit better at skull mounts. ive actually done a few and sold them on a shed and stuff and some people really like that plus i get a bit better price for them than for a pelt and its a bit more work but its something for me to do in the winter when im not workin a ton. haha keeps me outa trouble. but also like said before shoot them on a ranch and it will open up opportunities for big game huntin
