What happens when mechanics mess up...

My dad had an 08 pauns archery hunt this year. We went over to get a CV axle put on our truck. Our truck was down at about 12. I talked him into staying and doing a little scouting. That night we drove about 25 miles and parked and drove around on our four wheeler. When we got to a place called Blubber creek, we were going over a cattle gaurd and we kind of jumped it. when we got to the other side, the truck started swerving all over the dirt road. we slided about 75 yards and our left side was in the ditch. I went into the bushes and changed my shorts lol We got out and and could hear the air going out of the tire. The mechanic didn't put the bolts on right and when the truck lifted the CV axle broke and went through the tire. It was fun and scary.

One of the many downsides of IFS. The mechanic probably got the wrong shaft and it was a little shorter than it was supposed to be and the spline pulled out at full drop. Glad nobody got hurt.

Are you sure the tie rod didn't snap thus causing the CV to pull out of the wheel bearing? From the angle of that wheel and not being able to tell from the picture, that would be my guess.

As crappy as that must have been, better on the dirt than 70 on the freeway.

Whatever it was its good to see that no one got hurt. That could have been horrible at a higher speed on pavement.
